Can anyone teach me the formula on how to calculate backward for the percentage? for $186.5, how must GST for 7 % ? is $ 173.4 ? or 173.9?Can anyone teach me the formula on how to calculate backward for the percentage?
If I understand correctly, you can use the formula you'd use in the end to figure out what a certain aspect of it was.
Original Price + Tax = Price (all together)
We can then expand this :
Original Price + (x * Original Price) = Price (All together)
(x is in decimal form here)
Now for one of your questions :
186.5 + 186.5x = 173.4
186.5x = -13.1
x = -.07024
Then we multiply x by 100 to find out the percentage :
-.07024 * 100 = -7% (the minus means 7% off)Can anyone teach me the formula on how to calculate backward for the percentage?
Re-write your question in is/of format, and remember Is over Of is equal to percent over one hundred.Can anyone teach me the formula on how to calculate backward for the percentage?
price without tax is given by payment / 1.07....{ 174.30}
7% GST of $184.50 is 0.07 x 186.50 = $12.915
