How to calculate percentage?

Can any one tell how to calculate percentage. if the total amount is Rs.5,000 and if i remove 65% from it whats the remaining amount. Please tell me how to calculate this.How to calculate percentage?
Think that Rs 5000 as 100% since every initial amount is always 100%

Remove 65% so it becomes 100%-65%=35%

So the remaining is 35%, times Rs 5000 = 35% * Rs5000= Rs1750

To remove 65% would mean the same as keeping 35%



When we say 35%, we mean that if the total amount was 100, we would keep 35 parts of it. So when you keep 35% of 5000, it forms a basic equation that looks something like this



35/100 = X/5000



It translates into: 35 parts of 100 is the same as "how many" parts of 5000. In the above equation, calculate for X.



you will get something like



X = (35/100) * 5000



which will give



X = 35 * 50

Look up "cross" multiplication. I find it the easiest way to get percentages of anything. Once u learn it (easy) u will never have problems figuring out percentages again.
5000*65% is the same as 5000*.65
