for example, a web site said the following stock went up 107%. It was trading at 127.70 and went up to 153.90. How did they determine or calculate a 107% increase? How do I calculate how much (percentage) a stock has gone up in price?
idk, unless they meant from the original issue price. (about 74)
107% increase is more than doubling.
(new price - old price) / old price = 20.5% for your stock increase. How do I calculate how much (percentage) a stock has gone up in price?
Without all the info, it's hard to say. "SumDude" is correct on the calculating. Where they possibly refering to an annualized return? (You know, a 20% increase in 4 months would be a 60% annual return...keeping the math simple.)
