I am trying to calculate where I fall within my salary grade range as a percentage. For example: The range on my salary grade is from 70K to 120K. My salary is 108K. Where do I fall within my grade with respect to percentage? The HR dept uses the term "penetration" when explaining where one falls within his/her salary grade. ((your salary - lower range) * 100) / (upper range - lower range)
In your case:
your salary = 108000
lower range = 70000
upper range = 120000
((108000-70000) * 100)/(120000-70000)
38000*100/50000
= 76 percentile
