the first one gives you the right answer as "percentage increase". "1" (=100% as a decimal)

the second one is a "multiple" ie "2" / 200% its "doubled"

Your "increase" of 100 is the same (or 100%) of the amount you bought it for.

So the increase is 100%. An "increase" of 200% would be 300.

How do you calculate the percentage discount?

Subtract the sale price from the regular price. Multiply your answer by 100%, and divide by the regular price. Example:

A leather jacket normally sells for $200. The sale price is $180. What's the % discount? OK, the discount is $20, so multiply that by 100% = 2000$%, then divide by the regular price of $200, and the answer is 10% (the dollar signs cancel each other).How do you calculate the percentage discount?
Put it in decimal form as 100ths and then multiply it times the price.

A 20% discount from $100.00 is shown as

100 X .20

= 20.00

= $20.00How do you calculate the percentage discount?
Here's what's easy for me because I hate math! I just do this in my head when I'm shopping.

Let's use an example for 30% off:

If it's $1, take off $0.30. If it's $10, take off $3. If it's $100, take off $30.

So if something is $26.99 and 30% off, Round to $27, and take $3 off for every $10, and $.30 off for every $1.

You can use this for any percentage- but I hope this answers your question, because I have no idea how to enter this on a calculator!

    upper range = 120000

    ((108000-70000) * 100)/(120000-70000)

    Can you explain how to calculate the percentage of water this these 2 formulas?

    numbers after the letters are suppose to be in subscript

    MnSO4.H20

    and

    ZnSO4.7H2OCan you explain how to calculate the percentage of water this these 2 formulas?
    You need to determine the molecular weight for each of the two compounds. For MnSO4.H2O there is 1 mole H2O for every mole of MnSO4. The percent water would be 18 (molec. wt of water) divided by the molecular wt. of MnSO4.H2O times 100.

    For ZnSO4.7H2O there are 7 moles of water for each mole of ZnSO4. The percent water would then be (7 x 18)/molec. wt. ZnSO4.7H2O x 100.

  • How do you calculate a certain percentage of an amount?

    Let's say I want to give 30% off discount from the amount $73.40, would it be right to press 73.40 - 30 and press the % button so that will give you 51.45, then I take 73.40-51.45=21.95. Is that correct or there an easier way of doing it?How do you calculate a certain percentage of an amount?
    First,your numbers are wrong. 30% discount would be 22.02 dollars.

    73.40 - 22.02 = 51.38......apparently your calculator doesn't like decimal places or

    you have it set to round off too soon. If you just want the discount price multiply the 73.40

    price by 70 % and get 51.38. If you want the true number ( since your calculator does not

    like to give it) use a paper and pencil. For a percent discount, don't subtract 30, multiply by .3.
    Something seems a little off there. I came up with $51.38

    First off, you are double subtracting. 73.40 - 30 % is already taking the 30% off, you can stop there.

    By subtracting 51.45 from the 73.40, you are subtracting 70% from the original 100% price, leaving you with the 30% - making the item 70% off, (or 30% of it's original value)

    Another way to do it is to take 73.40 * .7 (Taking 70% of the price, which is the same as 30% less)

    ETA: I guess I type too slow!How do you calculate a certain percentage of an amount?
    That results in an incorrect answer.

    The easiest way is to multiply $73.40 by .70

    (If it's 30% off, then the discounted price would be 70% of the original price.)
    Method 1

    ----------------

    100%%26lt;-----------%26gt;$73.40

    10%%26lt;--------------%26gt;$7.34

    30%%26lt;--------------%26gt;$22.02

    New price = $73.40 - $22.02 = $51.38

    Method 2

    ---------------

    New price = 0.7 x $73.40 = $51.38How do you calculate a certain percentage of an amount?
    73.40 x 30% (or .30) = $22.02 discount

    $73.40 - $22.02 = final cost $51.38

    How can I calculate the percentage cost of a call option?

    Option pricing theory is quite complex to be discussed here extensively. I provide two references below, that I got from a simple search in yaoo of "option pricing".

    The basic idea behind the pricing models is that the stock price is an uncertain value, which has a lognormal distribution.

    The option price is the expected value of the payout function.

    That is, you compute, for every possible stock price, the option price, then multiply by its probability, and that's it.

    41 / 2080 x 100 = 1.97%
    Divide 41 by 2080. Then multiply by 100 to get a percentage. To multiply by 100 you can just move the decimal point two digits to the right. My answer is 1.97.
    Don't multiply X100

    Just devide the smaller number by the larger number.

    To double check multiply the larger number by the answer and you should get the smaller number or really close (40.976) which will round up.
    Percentages can be done easily like this:

    x out of 100 is like 41 out of 2080

    x...................41

    ---.....=.........---

    100............2080

    Now cross multiply:

    2080 * x = 100 * 41

    Now simplify:

    x = 100 * 41 / 2080

    x = 1.97

    So 41 is 1.97% of 2080

    Good luck.
    The percent that x makes up of y is another way of saying x/y. Once you get that number, you multiply by 100 and stick a percent sign at the end.

    In this case, you have: 41/2080 = .02 or 2%

    More information is needed but I'll assume you have names in column A and scores in column B. Then in a different column than A and B put the names and the formula below. For example assume column A has

    Mike

    Dan

    Mike

    Dan

    and column B has

    80

    92

    90

    94

    Then below the data (I'll just assume on line 100) put in cell C100

    Mike

    and in C101 put

    Dan

    (etc.)

    In D100 put

    =SUMIF(A:A,C100,B:B)/COUNTIF(A:A,C100)

    and copy that down.

    What this does is sum the scores for each name in column C, and divides by the count of that name, giving the average score.

    Hope that helps, just guessing at what you need based on limited info.

    The algorithm is quite simple. I will assume that you are dealing with ascii files, unicode makes things a little (but not hugely) more complicated.

    We use getchar[1] to read each character and then increment an array thats indexed by ascii code. Code will make this a little more clear.

    char temp;

    char count[256];

    while( temp = getchar() != EOF) {

    count[temp]++;

    }

    This will read from stdin, but it won't be very much more work to make it read from a file.

    So know this

    Number of base hits

    Doubles x 2

    Triples x 3

    Home Runs x 4

    Add those numbers together and divide it by At bats.

    Example:

    A Batter has these stats

    10 Base Hits

    4 Doubles

    1 Triple

    3 Home Runs

    35 At Bats

    So do the math

    Number of base hits: 10

    Doubles x 2: 8

    Triples x 3: 3

    Home Runs x 4: 12

    Add those numbers: 33

    Divide by at bats (35)

    33 divided by 35= .943

    .943 Slugging Percentage
    total bases divided by at bats.How do you calculate slugging percentage?
    Total bases by at bats, i.e. a home run it's 4/1=4.000
    Step One

    Add up all official at bats. Do not include those at bats that resulted in a walk, sacrifices or hit by pitch.

    Step Two

    Add up total bases. Total bases are how many bases you reached in all the times you hit safely.

    Step Three

    Divide total bases by official at bats.

    Step Four

    Round to the third decimal place. For example, .57051 is .571.How do you calculate slugging percentage?

    4Step FourRound to the third decimal place. For example, .57051 is .571.
    SLG % = At batts / Total bases

    Walks are exluded from the slugging percentage equation.
    Ambrose has it exactly right, but since singles data isn't usually available, the alternative version, below, works just as well with a bit more convenience.

    SLG == (hits + doubles + 2*triples + 3*homers) / at-bats

    conventionally to three decimals.

    Edit: I take it back. Ambrose is not distinguishing "singles" from "hits", and failure to do so will give a wrong answer. Unless it's some whifflebat hitter who ONLY gets singles.

    Boron exists naturally in two isotopes B-10 and B-11Calculate the percentage abundance of each isotope in naturally occurring Boron?
    Let the amount of B-10 be x.

    x(10) + (1-x) (11) = 10.8

    Solving the equation, you would get 0.2 for B-10, and 0.8 for B-11, giving 20% and 80% respectively.

    How Do You Calculate Body Fat Percentage?

    What is the formula to calculate this? I used one from Wikipedia and got 30%, but I don't think that's right...(I have some extra fat, but I'm nowhere near overweight, so...)How Do You Calculate Body Fat Percentage?
    There is no such calculator that will accurate give you a body fat reading. 30% body fat would not be overweight, it's at the upper end of the acceptable range for females. There are a lot of misconceptions about how much fat is healthy and what different fat levels actually look like. The average untrained women of 'normal' weight will likely have a body fat percentage in the region of 25-31%.How Do You Calculate Body Fat Percentage?
    It's not going to be exact unless you use some pricey equipment, for now you can do a good estimate. If you can pinch an inch off your lovehandles, and you have a gut and no ab definition, then you have more than 10%. If you have stretchmarks, your leaning toward 15%. After this, the more you weigh, and you don't have muscle to show for it, then the % will just get higher. Also I doubt you have 30% body fat, that is too much. 30% is usually for obese people. If you have a bit more fat than you would like, I would say maybe 20%, give or take a few.How Do You Calculate Body Fat Percentage?
    It's impossible to get decent accuracy w/o underwater weighing.

    How to calculate grade from correct answers to percentage?

    can anyone help me with calculating my grade?

    i got 89 questions correct out of 118 questions possible.

    what percentage and grade would that be?

    thanks!How to calculate grade from correct answers to percentage?
    Hi,

    Answer: 75.4 %. Most probably a C.

    How to find it:

    To get the percent, divide the number correct by the total number and multiply the result by 100.

    (89/118) *100

    Exactly what letter grade you will have can vary somewhat depending on your school and/or teacher. Almost always, 75% falls in the "C" range. For some schools, the minimum for "C" is 70; for others, it's 70. That assumes that your teacher does not grade on a curve. If she/he grades on a curve, the letter grade depends on what the average grade was

    Hope this is useful.

    percentage of rational numbers is calculated by multiplying by hundred.

    when you want to reflect something as a percentage of something

    say like finding the profit percentage

    you divide the profit by 100

    and the resultant rational number you multiply by hundred

    profit%=(profit/cost price)*100
    If using a calculator, input the number that you want the percentage of then multiply it by whatever percent you want then push the percent key. For example 20% of $80 = $16

    You would input 80 x 20% and you get 16. You can also do it as 80 x .20=16. If you are not using a calculator you just move over to decimal places to the left for the number that is the percent. For example: 30%=.30 75%=.75 and so on.

    How to calculate overall percentage for assignment?

    i am on a computing course. currently there are two assignments for a module.

    the total mark for each assignment is 100.

    for the first assignment i got 63 out 100

    the second assignment is not out yet.

    i need overall mark of 40% to pass the module.

    how do i work, what is my percentage rate so far%26gt; and

    how do i work, how much more percentage do i need to pass the module?

    or have i passed the module?

    thanks.How to calculate overall percentage for assignment?
    Well it also depends on whether or not (besides a 40% overall) you actually need to pass the individual components of the courseworkl (which would make sense in any decent course worth any real educatioinal value)...In which case you'd need at least 40% off the second submission...and going by the first you ought to achieve this...

    But you should not look at trying to achieve a qualification or a course component as "what's the least I can get and pass" - this is a crummy attitude to studying and is the reason we have so mediocre, half-hearted, disatisfied workers in the UK!

    Aim for the BEST you can do - NOT the LEAST you can do!

    I HOPE that your course does require a pass level in each component - otherwise it's as good as rubbish...be fair...if you ONLY got 17% in the second test - i.e just enough to get an average of 40% overall (assuming both elements have equal weight) ...you can hardly really say you 'passed 'the course...as you will have DISMALLY failed a full half of the coursework!
    out of 200 which is the score for both put together you have currently got 63 that you know of which is 31.5% so in the next assignment you will need to get only 17 marks out of 100 if I am understanding the question properly, hope this helps.How to calculate overall percentage for assignment?
    Your current percent is 63/200 = 31.5% (0.315) so you have not passed yet.

    To calculate what you need to pass solve: (63 + x)/200 %26gt;= 0.4

    where x is your mark for the second assignment.

    So if you get x %26gt;= 17 then you will have passed.
    well if your first module was a 63/100 then you have at this point, a 63% overall. Assuming your next one is worth another 100 points, you would only need to score a 17 or higher to get a 40% (Being that 80/200 is 40 %)How to calculate overall percentage for assignment?
    40% is passing? Wow.

    your current percentage for the total assignment is 63/2 = 31.5 percent

    to get to at least 40%

    (63 + x)/2 = 40

    63 +x = 80

    x = 17 or 17 percent on 2nd assignment.
    63/100*100%=63%

    You are nearly passing the module.

    40/100=80/200

    80/200-63/200=17/200

    Don't worry, you will only need 17 points more. (Never mind, I believe you will make it through).

    Your percentage rate is 63/200=31.5%.
    63/100 = 63%

    if you get 0 for the second exam

    (63 + 0)/(100+100) * 100/1 = 31.5%

    40 = (63 + x)/(100+100) *100/1

    63 + x = 40 * 200 / 100

    x = 80 - 63

    =17

  • How do you calculate on base percentage, and why is it important when putting a team together.?

    The full formula is OBP = (Hits + Walks + Hit by Pitch) / (At Bats + Walks + Hit by Pitch + Sacrifice Flies).

    The reason it is important is for lineup purposes. You may have a guy who doesn't have the best batting avg. or even good RBI statistics. But, generally, players that have good OBP are good base-runners, sometimes have the ability to steal, and basically help to get runners in scoring position. Therefore, you can put someone in the lineup behind them who is well at either getting the ball in play safely, power to create a sacrifice run, or even get a hit and drive in RBI's.How do you calculate on base percentage, and why is it important when putting a team together.?
    Since the first part of your question has already been answered, I won't bother. However, I don't believe that OBP is a big factor in putting a team together at all. I'm much more concerned with slugging, defense, and base running ability.How do you calculate on base percentage, and why is it important when putting a team together.?
    In baseball statistics, on-base percentage (OBP) is a measure of how often a batter reaches base for any reason other than a fielding error, fielder's choice, fielder's obstruction, or catcher's interference.

    Also, OBP is added to slugging average to determine on-base plus slugging (OPS). It first became an official MLB statistic in 1984.

    On base percentage is calculated using this formula

    OBP = H+BB+HBP divided by AB+BB+HBP+SF

    where * H = Hits

    * BB = Bases on Balls (aka Walks)

    * HBP = times Hit By a Pitch

    * AB = At bats

    * SF = Sacrifice Flies

    The importance of having a leadoff hitter, as well as other hitters with a high OBP is obvious --- to score more runs.How do you calculate on base percentage, and why is it important when putting a team together.?
    OBP is a simple measure of success at the plate. Outs make the team less likely to score runs. Anything that isn't an out makes the team more likely to score runs. The higher a player's OBP, they more likely they are to not make an out and therefore contribute to their team scoring runs. OBP is the single most important statistic that most baseball fans are willing and able to consider/calculate.
    because you need players to get on base so you can bat them in (RBI)

    You don't macros to do such simple things!!!

    You can use one of the Forms controls that is called "CheckBox"

    BAsed on your Excel version do this:

    In Excel 2003 or earlier:

    - View %26gt; Toolbars %26gt; Form toolbar

    - Draw a checkbox

    In Excel2007:

    - Office logo %26gt; Excel Options %26gt; Popular %26gt; Show Developer toolbar

    - Developer bar %26gt; Insert %26gt; Form %26gt; Checkbox

    - Draw it

    In both after you draw the checkbox:

    - Right click %26gt; Format Control %26gt; Cell link

    - Select cell, make it C2

    - Ok

    - In C3 paste this

    =IF( C1, 0.02, 0.04)

    - Now cell C3 will give you the tax % based on the checkbox, so all you need to paste any cell

  • How do I calculate my SAT score into a percentage?

    if i scored 1400 on the SATs, what does that convert to percentage wise?? for example, does it calculate to an 80% or what? or....can i not calculate it into a percent?? HELP!How do I calculate my SAT score into a percentage?
    the original answer below is wrong because the scale is 600-2400.

    You would take your answer minus 600, and then divide by 1800 (the total amount of points one can earn - in reality).

    1400-600=800

    800/1800=.4444444

    44.44%

    Really this percentage has no bearing. Check college boards website and under your SAT scores section it should tell you a percentage of students who did better and worse than you did.How do I calculate my SAT score into a percentage?
    Let's say the score is out of 2400. And that your score is 2300. You would do:

    (2300/2400) = (x/100)

    You would solve this with cross multiplication. Your score in percentage would be 95.83%.How do I calculate my SAT score into a percentage?
    well it's a total of 2400

    so divide that by 2400

    and you get 58.3 percent

    which is okay but you can do better by retaking the test :)

    good luck!

    What is the most accurate way to calculate body fat percentage?

    What type of examination would be the most accurate? I'm sure there are several, but I have no idea what the exams obligate? Also, where may I receive one - may I simply go to my doctor? I'd also like to mention I'm in Rhode Island if there are any health pro's. that could do this. I'm of an average weight - about 5'4"/around 138 - 141lbs. Any help is appreciated; I know barely anything about body fats.What is the most accurate way to calculate body fat percentage?
    The most accurate way to calculate body fat percentage is by water displacement, but very few places will do that for you--it requires a huge tank of water and a chair lift--you won't find a setup like this in most places.

    There are plenty of charts where you can measure your body in different places, but this is a complex method that may or may not be accurate--some people accumulate fat in some places that get measured, but they are not over their body-fat percentage OVERALL--which is more important. (i.e., you might have larger arms--but still not be over your recommended percentage.)

    Instead, use the BMI--it's accurate enough and it can tell you how much weight you need to lose by the percentage it reveals.

    Here is a link:

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-c鈥?/a>What is the most accurate way to calculate body fat percentage?
    DEXA Scan (dual energy x ray absorptiometry) is the most accurate method. You can check with your doctor.

    Calculate the percentage uncertainty?

    The diameter of a cylindrical rod is 24.8 卤 0.05mm. Its length is measured at 135 卤 0.5mm.

    Calculate the percentage uncertainty in the volume of the cylinder?

    Also Calculate the absolute uncertainty in the volume of the cylinder in mm^3?

    Please show working out, I just need to know how to work it out.. not the answer - the answer is not important!

    Thanks!Calculate the percentage uncertainty?
    What you have here is a number of measurements which will be multiplied together (eg. Volume = X x Y x Z ) (of course, in this case, X and Y are both the same - ie. the diameter, because it will be squared in finding the volume).

    In these cases, the rule is: The percentage uncertainty in the answer is the SUM of the percentage uncertainties of each of the products.

    Or, put another way,

    dV/V = dX/X + dY/Y + dZ/Z (where I have used the shorthand dX to mean 'delta X' or uncertainty in X). Note that fractional uncertainties like dX/X are equivalent to percentage uncertainties - I assume that you know how to switch trivially from one to the other.

    So... for you... dV/V = 2 x dD/D + dL/L, where D = diameter and L = Length.

    Once you have this, dV = dV/V x V (ie. the absolute uncertainty is the fractional uncertainty x the Volume)

    I think this should be enough for you to finish the problem.

    How do I calculate a percentage?

    I'm looking for the method not the answer. if were selling tickets for a venue and the venue capacity is 350 and I have sold 126 tickets, how do I work out a percentage of whats been sold, eg if I had sold 175 tickets I would say its 50% sold.How do I calculate a percentage?
    126 tickets sold against 350 capacity.

    Percentage sold = (126/350)*100 = 36
    Using this way

    let 350 tickets be -----%26gt; 100 %

    then 126 tickets -----%26gt; ? %

    Now use the cross multiplication

    ==%26gt; ? % = (126 x 100 % ) / 350 = 36 %

    Check the answer again cause i didnt use the calculator to calculate ! but thats the way to caluclate!

    hope i helped you:DHow do I calculate a percentage?
    It's just:

    126 divided by 350, then multiply if by 100% to get percentage.

    it's always (no. you're trying to find percentage of) divided by (total number), then multiply by 100% (total percentage)

    Gd luck! ^^
    126 divided by 350 x 100 = 36%

    divide venue capacity by the number of tickets sold then multiply by 100 for %How do I calculate a percentage?
    If I'm not mistaken you put the number sold out of the total you can so 126 / 350 which is .36, and then move the decimal over to the right twice to get 36%
    this is the formula:

    tickets sold / total tickets

    so,

    126/350 = .36

    .36 (move two decimal places to the right) = 36%
    If you had sold 126 tickets, (126/350)*100 = 36% have been sold

    If you had sold 175 tickets, (175/350)*100 = 50% have been sold
    [ (number of tickets sold) / (venue capacity) ] * 100%

    that's the method...
    for example let it be 350 tickets=100%

    126 tickets=x

    now we make the proportion

    350/126=100/x =%26gt; 126*100=350*x =%26gt; x=36% here u are the answer
    sold tickets/total amount of tickets is the percentage of sold tickets

    126/350
    part divided by whole. 126 divided by 350. move the decimal point over two spaces to the right.
    (your number / total number) * 100

    126 / 350 = 0.36

    0.36 * 100 = 36%
    (126/350) x100=36%

    36464 - 30838 divide by 30838 will give you a % increase in the year of 18.2%.How do you calculate the percentage of increase in revenue from one year to the next?
    Relatively easy.

    30838/36464 = x/100

    x= (36464 * 100)/30838

    That would give you about a 18% increase.
    The increase in income is $ 5626.00. You arrive at the per-centage by dividing the amount of increase by the amount of last years income, or 18.2 per-cent. Now, that i've done your homework for you, you can go out and play.How do you calculate the percentage of increase in revenue from one year to the next?
    % increase = [(Amnt of increase)/(Original amnt)] * 100%

    where

    Amt of increase = New amt - Original amt.

    That is,

    % increase = [(New amt - Original amt)/Original amt] * 100%

    Let's find the percent increase using this formula and your numbers.

    % increase

    = [($36,464 - $30,838)/$30,838] * 100%

    = [$5626/$30,838] * 100%

    = [0.18243725274012581879499319021986] * 100%

    = 18.243725274012581879499319021986%

    = 18.24%

    The percent increase in revenue from 2004 to 2005 is approximately 18.24%.

  • How do you calculate an original price from a discounted price and a percentage rate?

    For example: Say I know I get 30% off on a product and the discounted price is $20.65. Simply multiplying $20.65 by 30% (which equals $26.85) doesn't calculate the correct original price (which is $29.50), because it's a percentage of the discounted price, not the original price. So what's the formula for calculating this correctly to determine the original price?How do you calculate an original price from a discounted price and a percentage rate?
    The current price is 70% of total, (100% - 30%). The way i've always done it is divide the current price by the current percentage, (20.65 / .70).How do you calculate an original price from a discounted price and a percentage rate?
    SIMPLE, you know your total that is 29.50 that is = to 100%

    so you have a discount of 30% but you want to now how much it is so;

    29.50 =100%

    x = 70%

    29.50 ( 70 ) = 100 (x)

    2065 /100 = x

    x = 20.65

    How do i calculate in percentage for cost?

    sorry but im a bit dumb when it comes to doing maths at clothes stores when they have sales on, how do i calculate the price of an item when its on sale to know the exact price when its not on the tag?

    for e.g how much is an item that cost say 7.99 when its on 20% off...how can i easily calculate on a mobile phone etc when im purchasing the item.

    thank you!!How do i calculate in percentage for cost?
    Multiply 7.99 by 0.8

    (0.8 as that will give you the value when it is at 80% of its original price)
    20% off means you pay 80% for the item, so on your mobile phone the price would be 7.99x0.8 (0.8 is the decimal version of 80%).

    Alternatively, 100/20 is 5, so you take off 1/5 of the price. You can work this out in your head.

    Another good tip is to ignore the .99 price and take the price as 拢8. That way dividing by 5 becomes easier, and you can take 1p off when you have an answer.

    For 25% off, that's half and half again taken off, so for 拢8, half is 拢4, half again is 拢2, so you pay 拢6.

    Failing that, the sales staff should be used to calculating the discounts so you can always ask. I used to sell jewellery and got questions about the discounts all the time, which was fine.How do i calculate in percentage for cost?
    If it says 20% of marked price (say 7.99)

    What you do is:

    OrigPrice* (100-DiscontPercentage)/100

    7.99 * (100-20)/100 = 6.39

    You could do it in one step if you know how to use your mobile's calculator.

    Or in 3 steps:

    1) Subtract Percantage Off from 100 (in this case; 100-20 = 80)

    2) Divide result by 100 (in this case; 80/100 = 0.8)

    3) Multiply the result with price (in this case; 7.99*0.8=6.39)
    just type the amount of the price....eg...$50...just simply multiply it by .60 if you want ot get the 60 percent...just put a point before the discount percent..

    $50x .10(less 10%)

    $50 x . 20( less 20 %)

    and up to . 100 for less 100%How do i calculate in percentage for cost?
    You would take the price (7.99) and divide it by 100. Then, multiply that by (100-%) to get the price. Hope this helps, and hope you find those bargains!
    easiest way with mobile phone is

    7.99 divided by 1.20 = answer

    best and the right way !!
    20% off = 80% to pay, 80% = .8 (1 = 100%)

    .8 x 7.99

    Why doesn't the c program calculate the percentage correctly even if i use a pair of parentheses into it?

    Here is the expression, per=5000*40/100

    Can someone please explain how C evaluates an expression having same precedence.Why doesn't the c program calculate the percentage correctly even if i use a pair of parentheses into it?
    What? Which answer do you expect? 5000*40/100 gives 2000 in both C and on my calculator and in my head.

    Is per defined as a float or a double? Have you tried 5000*40/(float)100 ?Why doesn't the c program calculate the percentage correctly even if i use a pair of parentheses into it?
    if the numbers are integers, C will do integer division and multiplication.

    according to math rules, multiplication and division have precedence over addition and subtraction.

    if they are all multiplies and divides, they are evaluated left to right.

    5000*40 will be the first evaluation, which evaluates to 200000

    200000/100 will be the next evaluation, which is 2000

    if you had more interesting numbers which don't divide evenly, like this:

    0/3=0 0%3=0

    1/3=0 1%3=1

    2/3=0 2%3=2

    3/3=1 3%3=0

    4/3=1 4%3=1

    5/3=1 5%3=2

    6/3=2 6%3=0

    7/3=2 7%3=1

    8/3=2 8%3=2

    that's integer division.

    if you want to force floating point division, simply append .0 to one of the numbers. for instance,

    double num=8.0/3; //2.666666667;

    I have no context/meaning for the numbers, so I cannot help you with the percentage calculation.Why doesn't the c program calculate the percentage correctly even if i use a pair of parentheses into it?

    Molar Mass (Pb)

    Molar Mass (PbS)How do you calculate the percentage of an ore?
    Chemists use the concept of the "mole" to calculate mass. A mole is a number like "PI", but chemists never use the actual number. Instead, they rely on the fact this many atoms of any element has a characteristic weight. Lead is 207 grams per mole and Sulfur is 32 grams per mole. Therefore 1 mole of Lead sulfide is 207 + 32 = 239 grams per mole. The percentage of either Lead or Sulfur is just the atomic weight divided by the molecular weight. For Pb, it would be 207/239, or 86.6% Lead. The Sulfur is just the remainder, 100% - 86.6% is 13.2 % Sulfur. This works because there is just one other atom in the formula. When calculating the percentages of things like H2O, take twice the atomic weight of H because there are two of them in the molecule. If the ore contains just a fraction of PbS, multiply this fraction by the percent of either Pb or S. If the ore was 12% PbS, then the amount of Lead would be 12% times 86.6%, or 0.12 times 0.86 = 10 percent Lead.

  • Calculate the mole percentage of N2O5 that will be decomposed at equilibrium.?

    Calculate the mole percentage of N2O5 that will be decomposed at equilibrium if the volume is increased by a factor of 0.53.

    Consider the decomposition equilibrium for dinitrogen pentaoxide.

    2 N2O5(g) 4 NO2(g) + O2(g)

    At a certain temperature and a total pressure of 1.00 atm, the N2O5 if 0.53% decomposed (by moles) at equilibrium.Calculate the mole percentage of N2O5 that will be decomposed at equilibrium.?
    Assume ideal gas:

    p路V = N路R路T

    For constant pressure and temperature the volume is proportional to the total amount of substance

    V = (R路T/p) 路 N = constant 路 N

    Initially we had pure dinitrogen pentoxide let say N鈧€

    Let x be the amount of N鈧侽鈧?which had reacted away in equilibrium. From reaction equation you find that per moles N鈧侽鈧? 4/2=2 moles of NO鈧? and 1/2 moles of O鈧?are formed. Hence the amount of substance of the components in equilibrium is:

    N(N鈧侽鈧? = N鈧€ - x

    N(NO鈧? = 2x

    N(O鈧? = (1/2)路x

    The total amount of substance in equilibrium is

    N_e = N(N鈧侽鈧? + N(NO鈧? + N(O鈧? = N鈧€ + (3/2)路x

    We know that the volume in equilibrium has increased by 53%

    V_e/V鈧€ = 1.53

    because volume and amount of substance are proportional

    =%26gt;

    N_e/N鈧€ = 1.53

    %26lt;=%26gt;

    (N鈧€ + (3/2)路x) / N鈧€ = 1.53

    %26lt;=%26gt;

    1 + (3/2)路(x/N鈧€) = 1.53

    Hence the fraction of dinitrogen pentoxide which had reacted away is

    (x/N鈧€) = (2/3)路0.53 = 35.3%

  • How to calculate percentage uncertainty of the reading from micrometer screw guage?

    The micrometer screw gage can be checked against precision gage blocks for accuracy (perhaps the instrument was abused?). The instrument must be applied with a certain feel to obtain accurate and repeatable readings. The special graduations have a limited accuracy and it is necessary to estimate any reading more refined than the graduations. If the instrument can measure from zero to say one inch, a fixed error would be a larger percent of 0.1 inch than of 1.0 inch. Instrument errors (pressure gages, etc.) are often specified as % f.s. (percent full scale). Taking the average reading of say ten readings (and throwing out any obvious flyers) should provide a more accurate reading than a single reading.How to calculate percentage uncertainty of the reading from micrometer screw guage?

    One thing to realize is that all bodyfat calculators are not pefectly accurate, they are only consistent with what they say, so you can monitor if your losing body fat or gaining, but not what your exact body fat is. Doctors now say that calipers don't even provide accurate measures. The only accurate way is to put someone underwater and there are a bunch of tests they can do, but its very expensive to do.Device to calculate body fat percentage?
    dear weight watcher,

    There is a good site that doesn't need instruments. It finds your BMI (body mass index) and tells you if your at a healthy weight or not. All you need to know is your height, weight, age, etc. Basically all of the stuff it needs for showing if your healthy or not.http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/

    Hope this helps,

    Yes. Asking relatives, especially siblings, parents, and grandparents. Aunts/uncles work well, too.

    What information do you need to calculate the percentage composition of CF4?

    You only need the molar masses of Carbon and Florine

    Since Carbon's molar mass is 12.011 and Florine's is 18.998 you have all the information

    There is one Carbon molecule so the mass of Carbon in CF4 is 12.011

    There are four Florine molecules so the mass of Florine is 18.998 x 4 = 75.992

    The mass of the molecule of CF4 as a whole is 12.011 + 75.992 = 88.003

    Now to calculate percent composition take the mass of each element divided by the mass of the molecule as a whole:

    Carbon- 12.011/88.003 = .1365 or 13.65%

    Florine- 75.992/88.003 = .8635 or 86.35%What information do you need to calculate the percentage composition of CF4?
    Ar(C)= 12,01

    Ar(F)= 19,00 that is all

    w(C,CF4)= Ar(C) / Mr(CF4)= 0,1365 (or 13,65%)

    w(F,CF4)= 4*Ar(F) / Mr(CF4)= 0,8635 (or 86,35%) instead of this you can just do this 100%-13,65%= 86,35%

    125/115=1.087 = 8.7%How do I calculate the percentage change from 115% to 125%?
    Depends on what your x value is. Say that 24 was x, 115% of 24 is (1.15x)= 27.6

    125% of 24 is (1.25x) = 30 so the the difference in change is 30 - 27.6 = 2.4

    Molar mass of Oxygen in NH4H2PO4 : 64

    64/115*100 = 55.7%

    Molar mass of Oxygen in (CH3)2CO : 16.0

    16/58.1*100 = 27.5%How to calculate percentage composition?
    it's not too difficult

    hydrogen in NaH2PO4

    you have to calculate the atomic weight of the whole compound

    23 + 2 + 31 + 4 x (16) = 120 (atomic weight of the compound)

    then

    there are two atoms of hydrogen in that compund so

    the atomic weight of hydrogen is : 2 x 1 = 2.

    so

    % H = 2 x 100/120

    = 200/120 = 1.6 % of hydrogen in NaH2PO4.

    Calculate the Percentage of MnO2 in a mineral specimen.?

    Calculate the Percentage of MnO2 in a mineral specimen in the I2 liberated by a 0.1344 g sample in the net reaction:

    MnO2(s) +4H+ + 2I- -%26gt; Mn2+ + I2 + 2H2O

    required 32.30mL of 0.07220 M Na2S2O3.

    I don't understand what the steps of the problem are.Calculate the Percentage of MnO2 in a mineral specimen.?
    The number of moles of I2 is the same as the number of moles of MnO2.

    The I2 liberated reacts with 6 moles thiosulfate so you work out the number of moles

    of thiosulfate and divide by 6 to get moles MnO2.

    Moles thiosulfate = 0.0323 L x 0.07220 M = 0.00233 moles.

    0.00233 / 6 = 0.0003887 moles MnO2.

    Mass MnO2 = 0.0003887 moles x 86.94 g/mole = 0.0338 g.

    ( 0.0338 / 0.1344 ) x 100 = 0.3% MnO2.Calculate the Percentage of MnO2 in a mineral specimen.?
    I can't explain the detail, you may search the reference. It's an iodometric titration. An iodide, usually potassium iodide is added to a solution of MnO2, it reacts based on the reaction you wrote above:
    MnO2(s) +4H+ + 2I- ---%26gt; Mn2+ + I2 + 2H2O

    The amount of I2 that's released by the titration is titrated with sodium thiosulphate:
    I2 + 2S2O3^2- ---%26gt; S4O6^2- + 2I-

    Pay attention that 2 iodide molecule reacts with one MnO2 to produce one I2. In this case I2 = MnO2. And one I2 is needed to react with 2 molecule of thiosulphate. Or one thiosulphate = I2/2 = MnO2/2. Now you can determine the precentage of MnO2.

    In equivalence point:
    MV = MV
    Where M is molarity and V is volume.

    I prefer this to be solved in normality rather than molarity, but solve the problem as you wish.

    How do you calculate winning percentage in sports, including tie games?

    Most leagues consider ties something like a half-win. So if a team goes 5-3-2, you would add up with wins to get to six (5 + half + half) and divide it by the total number of games, 10, to get a winning percentage of .600.

    The NFL used to do it so that ties did not count, and a percentage of wins and losses only was used for winning percentage. Therefore, a team that was 14-0 was just ahead of 13-0-1 -- which makes sense. The problem with that -- A team that went 1-0-13 was better than a team that went 13-1. The league finally realized that made no sense and went to the half-win system. Of course, with overtime ties are very rare in the NFL.How do you calculate winning percentage in sports, including tie games?
    Add up all the games to get a total amount played. Then divide the number of games won by the total number played.

    For instance, if a team went 9-5-1, you'd add up 9+5+1 = 15.

    In order to add in the tied game, you break it into halves. Since a tie is neither a win nor a loss, you break each tie into 1/2 a win, 1/2 a loss.

    So, you'd add half a win to the total wins: 9.5 divided by 15 total games.

    The winning percentage of a 9-5-1 record would be .633 (or 63%).

    How to calculate percentage?

    Hello;

    Can any one tell how to calculate percentage. if the total amount is Rs.5,000 and if i remove 65% from it whats the remaining amount. Please tell me how to calculate this.How to calculate percentage?
    Think that Rs 5000 as 100% since every initial amount is always 100%

    Remove 65% so it becomes 100%-65%=35%

    So the remaining is 35%, times Rs 5000 = 35% * Rs5000= Rs1750

    Hope this can help you :)
    To remove 65% would mean the same as keeping 35%

    When we say 35%, we mean that if the total amount was 100, we would keep 35 parts of it. So when you keep 35% of 5000, it forms a basic equation that looks something like this

    35/100 = X/5000

    It translates into: 35 parts of 100 is the same as "how many" parts of 5000. In the above equation, calculate for X.

    you will get something like

    X = (35/100) * 5000

    which will give

    X = 35 * 50

    X = 1750How to calculate percentage?

    percent mean per hundred. Take 3,000 multiply it by 120 and then divide by 100.

    Clearly in this case you can multiply by 12 then divide by 10, or multiply by six and divide by five.

    3,000 x 6 = 18,000

    18,000 divided by 5= 3,600.How do you calculate a percentage?
    a percent is equal to a decimal two jumps to the right

    ex. 100% is 1

    80$ is .8

    120 percent of $3000 is 1.2 times 3000
    Turn your 120% into a decimal by dividing your percent value by 100 = 120/100 = 1.2

    Multiply $3,000 by your percent decimal: 3,000 * 1.2 = $3,600How do you calculate a percentage?
    You need to multiply your number (in this case 3000) by 1/100th of your percentage. 1/100th of 120%=1.2

    Therefore 120% of 3000

    = 1.2 x 3000

    =3600
    Convert any percentage to a decimal means moving the decimal two places to the left:

    120% = 1.2

    so, $3000*1.2=$3600
    3000 times 1.2

    If you want 80 percent of it, 3000 times .8

    if you want a 100 percent, 3000 times 1
    120/100=x/3000
    (3000/100)*120=3600

    How to calculate the volume of a sphere based on percentage of surface area?

    How would you calculate the volume of a sphere based off of a percentage of the surface area if the volume of the sphere is known but only in terms of the surface area?

    Example:

    A sphere is measured to displace 280,000 cm^3 of water but its surface area is only submerged 72% under water. What is the total volume of the sphere?

    Please show work and explain and you will receive points.How to calculate the volume of a sphere based on percentage of surface area?
    First the formula for the volume of a sphere is:

    V = (4/3)(pi)(r^3), and the area of a sphere is:

    A = 4*(pi)(r^2), which makes it possible to rewrite the two formulae as:

    V = 4/3(pi)(r^3) = 1/3(A*r) and

    A = 3(V/r)

    Now, i know that having 72% of the sphere submerged is multiplying the A by .72.

    280000 = 1/3(.72A*r)

    Solving for A, you get:

    A = 3*280000/(r*.72) and then equate that to A = (3V)/r

    (3*280000)/(.72r) = (3V)/(r)

    280000/.72 = V

    V = 388,888.88888 cm^3How to calculate the volume of a sphere based on percentage of surface area?

    How to calculate the percentage of how much smallar 1 # is than another?

    if i have one folder on my computer thats 22.9mb in size and i have a zipped version of it that's 19.6mb in size, how do i calculate by what percentage the zip file is smaller than the regular folder?

    sometimes math confuses me,

    thx :)How to calculate the percentage of how much smallar 1 # is than another?
    Divide 19.6mb by 22.9mb and it will tell you the percentage it shrunk.
    Here is my way of calculating percentage...

    Cent means 1 of 100 and percent means "x/100". simply written as x%.

    First of all percentage is calculating for 100; whatever it is does not a matter.

    Here you will know how much your folder shrunk, in percentage.

    22.9 mb shrunk into 19.6mb

    100 mb will shrink into (19.6 / 22.9) * 100 = 85.58.

    Here, you should remember that 100mb will shrink into 85.58, but this is not the answer to your question.

    How much smaller than regular folder in percentage, is the question.

    So, what do you do is deduct from 100; 100 - 85.58 = 14.41%. (you can do this step in first also; first deduct, 22.9 - 19.6 = 3.3; 22.9mb shrunk through 3.3mb

    100mb will shrink through (3.3 / 22.9) * 100 = 14.41%. all are same)

    The answer is zip file folder is 14.41% smaller than reg. folder.

    I hope this will help you to understand.How to calculate the percentage of how much smallar 1 # is than another?
    It depends on the exact wording of the question.

    Since you asked by what percentage the zip file is smaller than the original, the answer is that it is 14.4% smaller. That is the same as saying the the 22.9 mb file is reduced by 14.4%.

    If the question asked what percentage the zip file is of the orginal file, the answer to that is that it is 85.6% of the orignal file.
    I believe it's roughly 14%. This can be obtained by dividing 19.6 by 22.9 and moving the decimal a few places over. You'll get something like 85.5, which can be rounded up to 86 for purposes of simplification. From there, subtract 86 from 100 and you'll find out the percentage difference. To test this:

    .14 * 22.9 = 3.206

    22.9 - 3.206 = approx 19.6

    Hope I helped!How to calculate the percentage of how much smallar 1 # is than another?

    Zipped file is 19.6 mb

    Smaller by 22.9-19.6 mb=3.3 mb

    With respect to original file aip file is (3.3/22.9)*100 percent smaller

    Henry constant for nitrogen: 8.68 x 10^9 PaUsing Henry's Law, Calculate percentage (by volume) of Oxygen and Nitrogen in air dissolved in water?
    The solubility of oxygen in water is higher than the solubility of nitrogen.

    Answer : Air dissolved in water contains approximately 35.6% oxygen compared to 21% in air.

    That means the nitrogen would be about 64.4% of the air that is dissolved in the water, compared to about 79% in regular air.

    --------------------------

    Henry Law's Constants at a system temperature of 25C

    * Oxygen - O2 : 756.7 atm/(mol/l) = 4.40 x 10^9 Pa

    * Nitrogen - N2 : 1600 atm/(mol/l) = 8.68 x 10^9 Pa

    -------------------------------------

    Oxygen dissolved in the Water at atmospheric pressure can be calculated as:

    co = (1 atm) 0.21 / (756.7 atm/(mol/liter)) (31.9988 g/mol)

    = 0.0089 g/liter

    -----------------------

    Nitrogen dissolved in the Water at atmospheric pressure can be calculated as:

    cn = (1 atm) 0.79 / (1600 atm/(mol/liter)) (28.0134 g/mol)

    = 0.0138 g/liter

    How do i calculate percentage growth?

    ok, say a city was 37 percent asian in 1991 and is now 51 percent asian.....how do i calculate the percent in which the asian population grew between those years? i mean how can i get the number in which i can say "the asian population grew by "such and such" a percent between 1991 and 2007"How do i calculate percentage growth?
    Its calculated as follows:

    (51-37)/37*100 = 37.84%How do i calculate percentage growth?
    51 divided by 37 is 1.378 (rounded off), so the asian population grew by 37.8 percent.

    Calculate the percentage (by weight) of oxygen in the product formed when a 7.63-g sample of sulfur combines w?

    CHEM HELP PLZ....

    Calculate the percentage (by weight) of oxygen in the product formed when a 7.63-g sample of sulfur combines with oxygen to give 15.24 g of a pure compoundCalculate the percentage (by weight) of oxygen in the product formed when a 7.63-g sample of sulfur combines w?
    You know there is 7.63 g S

    So mass O = total mass compound formed - mass S

    = 15.24 g - 7.63 g

    = 7.61 g O

    % O = mass O / total mass x 100/1

    = 7.61 g / 15.24 g x 100

    = 50.0 % ( 3 sig figs)

  • Do you have the formula used in clinical studies to calculate risk percentage?

    In one study they just asked people about their habits. they have two groups of men. One group suffering of prostate cancer and the second one is well. They asked the two groups about their masturbation behaviors and they come up with the conclusion that masturbation increases prostate cancer by 75%

    I would like to know what formulas they have used.

    ThanksDo you have the formula used in clinical studies to calculate risk percentage?
    I think you are looking for the Population Attributable Risk or PAR% used in clinical trials.

    Here's an example:

    I understand. Thanks for giving me BA.

    You need to understand that often researchers are funded by entities who wish to profit from the study. I've sometimes wondered if the math is purposefully made confusing.
