My friends average in math is 58. If she got a 50 on the exam which is worth 20%, would she still pass? How do I calculate my percentage?
Since your grade percentage is out of 100%, and the exam is worth 20%, then your original average of 58 is worth 80%.
In other words,
58% is worth 80%
50% is worth 20%
80% of 58% is 46.4%
20% of 50% is 10%
Since 80% and 20% add together to make 100%, you can add 46.4% and 10% to get your friend's final grade, which is 56.4%.
If 56.4% is not a passing grade at your school, then no, she would not pass with a 50% on her exam.
If she gets a 55% on her exam, then (by following the method above) she would get a 57.4%. If 57.4% is not a passing grade at your school, then no, she would not pass with a 55% on her exam.
nope.
most schools hve a min 60% to pass. if "hers" doesn't, i don't think it really matters...How do I calculate my percentage?
yah that would be a 78 percent. though i dont think that exactly what your asking for. you have to put the total amount of points that you can earn in the class and divide it by the amount she has recieved
0.8 * 58 + 0.2 * 50 = 46.4+10 = 56.4
So if she got 50 on the exam she'd have 56.4 overall.
What's the pass mark? How do I calculate my percentage?
Assuming passing is a 50 then you'd calculate it this way it this way:
She/He averages 58 points over 80% of the coursework so out of 80 she has
80*.58 = 46.4 points
Meaning that to pass the class she would need 3.6 points of the 20 remaining points meaning she scores above a 3.6/20 or 18% on the final exam. If she gets a 50 on the exam then she'd get 10 out of 20 points and her average would be
46.4+10 = 56.4
(58*80+50*20)/100=56.4
