How to calculate percentage decrease?

the numbers are 11088 and 8316

any ideas on how to work it out?

and calculate the mean of the average energy intake of

12873 to 10478

please help I'm really stuck!How to calculate percentage decrease?
Use Cross Proportions like (example):

11088 is 100% of whatever

then 8326 is ????% of whatever

so

11088 %26gt; 8326

______ ______

100% n

cross the top and bottom proportions and,

11088n = 8326 x 100% (calculates to 8326)

divide both by 11088

n=8326/11088

n= 75%

So 100% - 75% assuming second number is a remainder and not consummed, then

25% energy intake

second numbers

12873 = 10478

______ ________

100% n

12873n = 10478 (result of 10478 x 100%)

_______________

12873 12873

n= 81% so 100% - 81%= 19% consumed on this one

so you have a 25% energy intake, and then a 19% intake...the mean (Average) for 19 and 25 or...

19+25/2= Mean

Mean = 22How to calculate percentage decrease?
Presuming that you want to go from 11`088 to 8`316...

take 8`316 away from 11`088.

you get 2`772.

then to work out the percentage do 2`772 ÷ 11`088. You get 0.25, and then to get into a percentage multiply by 100, which will give you 25%.

It is a 25% decrease.How to calculate percentage decrease?
%-change = (New # - Old #)/(Old #)

For your numbers this is (8316 – 11088)/11088 = -0.25 = -25%
