How do you calculate the percentage mass of oxygen in chromium nitrate, Cr(NO3)3?

1) work out the RMM of chromium nitrate. (RAM of chromium, nitrogen (x 3) and oxygen (x 9)

2) Divide RMM of all the oxygen (16x9) by the TOTAL RMM of chromium nitrate.

3)multiply the answer from 2 by 100 to get the percentage by mass. How do you calculate the percentage mass of oxygen in chromium nitrate, Cr(NO3)3?
Assume you have 1 mole of the compound. That will contain 9 moles of O atoms. So, calculate the molar mass of 9 moles of O, and divide that by the molar mass of the entire compound. To make it a percentage, just multiply the answer by 100.
