I'd like to calculate the percentage of the profit I made by selling some goods?

I need the formula to work this out. I Bought some items for $29, my profit was $63. What is the percentage of this difference?I'd like to calculate the percentage of the profit I made by selling some goods?
Your profit as a percentage is ( profit / cost ) = ( $63 / $29 ) = 2.17 = 217% .

The above calculation assumes that the $63 was the profit, NOT the amount you sold the items for.

----------------------------------

If you sold the items for $63, then your profit was ( $63 - $29 ) = $34, and in that case your profit is

( $34 / $29 ) = 1.17 = 117% .
