What is an easy way to calculate percentage discounts?

for example: i am selling a product at $ 10.00. i want to discount it by 30 %. how do i calculate how much the price would be after 30 % is taken off? i have to use a calculator and i know i'm bad at math. What is an easy way to calculate percentage discounts?
do it by multiples of 10% for example 10% of $10 is $1.00 off each $10.00 so multiply 3 by 1(because you want to give a 30 percent off) and there you go you have deducted $3.00.

Lets say its $20.00 10% of 20 is $2.00 multiplied by 3 (which is thirty percent) its $6.00 off.
