How to calculate percentage ?

I was told to calculate the percentage you needed to divide the smaller number by the bigger number and multiply by 100, for example 65/89=0.73X100=73 is this correct ?How to calculate percentage ?
Not strictly correct. Depending on what you are measuring, you might want to divide the larger number by the smaller one.



For example 120 as a percentage of 200 is (120/200) * 100 = 60%



But 120 as a percentage of 80 is (120/80) * 100 = 150%
