I am trying to calculate the average percentage gain of my stock portfolio. Some have gone up and some have gone down in value.How do i calculate the average percentage of different percentage values?
You can do this by finding the mean of the percentages that you have.This mean value represent the average.How do i calculate the average percentage of different percentage values?
You should be able to average the percentages like you average anything else. Add all the values, then divide by the number of values. I'd include the sign (losses should be negative) since you want the average gain. But, since I'm not a financial guy, I could be wrong.
