I'm trying to find out how how much a game would be if you take 20 percent off.
For example
20% off of $17.99
It'd also be nice if someone could tell me how to do this both on paper and in MS Excel.How do you calculate percentage off of something?
the game with the discount will cost $14.39

20% as a decimal is 0.2 (to find the decimal, divide the percentage by 100)
on a calculator type in
0.2 x 17.99
= 3.598
then take that from the price
17.99 - 3.598 = $14.39

on excel you can just type into the box this

.20 * 17.99 = 3.598
17.99 - 3.60 = 14.39 total cost
just multiply the 17.99 * 20%
