How do you calculate percentage decrease?

In the first quarter it took 47 days to complete a contract. In the second quarter, it took 19 days. What is the percentage decrease? How do you calculate percentage decrease?
You calculate percentage change by subtracting the oldest number from the newest number and dividing that difference by the oldest number. In your example, subtract 47 from 19 and divide that answer by 47. The percentage decrease is 60%. (19-47)/47 = 60% Hope this helps...
