I found an item for sale for $31.95 and i bought it for $14.99 What percentage did i end up paying?How do I calculate percentage saved?

What Tralfaz said. For the future, imagine you make a fraction. The numerator (top) number is what you paid. The denominator (bottom) is the original price. If the numerator and the denominator were the same, you' d pay 100% (or 1). With a calculator, you would put the numerator in, press the division key, then the denominator. Press =, and the decimal is your percentage of the you paid. Take -1, and you will get the percentage you saved.

(44/77= .5715), you paid 57.15% of the regular price. .5714-1= (-.4285), you saved 42.85%. Do both 57.15+42.85= 1? Then you are correct.How do I calculate percentage saved?
I don't know what percentage sales tax you had to pay, but not including sales tax, the shirt was about 47% off.
