How do I calculate the percentage increase in this problem?

The question is: In 1968, IBM computer performed 100,000 instructions per second. Today, IBM ThinkPad performs 2.1 billion instructions per second. What is the percentage increase?

I'm not looking for someone to give me the answer...I just want to know how to do it.How do I calculate the percentage increase in this problem?
(2.1 billion - 100000) / 100000 x 100%

That's a pretty big percentage increase.

Percentage increases (decreases) are found by dividing the original number into the difference between the original number and the new number. IF you want it that number in % form then you multiply it by 100 and just write the % sign next to it.

If you don't do this, then your answer will be two decimal places farther to the left and you can't add a % sign or it will be the wrong answer.

The answer you want is 20,999 but you have to say 2,099,900.00 %How do I calculate the percentage increase in this problem?
The increase is 2,100,000,000 - 100,000 = 2,099,900,000

2,099,900,000 / 100,000 = 20999, Which is the how many times more it is.

So, 1x = 100%, so 20999x = 2099900% more
