I am given the hight in kmHow can I calculate the percentage of the atmosphere above?
Are you given an equation describing the structure of the atmosphere, or any additional info? Deriving that answer from scratch is a pretty advanced problem. How can I calculate the percentage of the atmosphere above?
The problem people are having with your question is.
There is really no 'top' to the atmosphere. The variation of pressure of our atmosphere with height is exponential, which means the higher you go the less pressure there is, but it never really ever reaches zero. I cannot remember where the accepted place is considered to be to call it a ceiling, but without knowing how high to go, you cannot determine how much more is above a given height.
Some information is missing from the question. Can you clarify, or re-state the question in more concrete terms?
