the accepted value for enthalpy of solution of the identified salt. What I can't seem to figure out is what is the accepted value and the experimental value. Is the accepted value the initial temperature and the experimental value, T2? The values I have are: T1, T2, T3, Tf, and change in temperature. There's this question that asks to calculate the percentage difference between your experimental value and?
It is much simpler than that.
The accepted value is the value you would find listed in a reference book such as the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.
The experimental value is the value you determined in the experiment from your temperature values, etc.
What you are being asked to do here is compare the two and assess how accurate and precise your experimental results are, and in a very real way how well you have conducted the experimental techniques involved.
