How do I calculate the percentage increase?

How do I find what percent something ahas increased or decreased by?

http://www40.statcan.gc.ca/l01/cst01/gbl鈥?/a>

For example, the above link shows exports and imports of Canada. I want to find the percentage of increase of imports from USA to Canada from 2003 and 2008.

The amount of imports from USA to Canada has increased by ___% from 2003 to 2008.

Help?How do I calculate the percentage increase?
2003: 240,356.3

2008: 280,773.1

Imports from US to Canada:

(2008 info - 2003 info)/(2003 info) x 100% = Percentage increase(+)/decrease(-)

(280773.1 - 240356.3)/240356.3 x 100%

= 40416.8/250356.3 x 100%

= .161437 x 100%

= 16.14%

Imports from US to Canada increased 16.14% from 2003 to 2008.How do I calculate the percentage increase?
Let f = first value measured.

let l = last value

Let x = percentage increase

f(1+x)=l

1+x=l/f

x=(l/f)-1

So if the first measure were 100 and it grew to 150

x = (150/100) - 1

x =( 3/2) - 1

x= 1/2

x = 50%

Clear? Good luck!How do I calculate the percentage increase?
To calculate any percentage change the formula is

((final - initial)/ initial) *100

Therefore

final=2008 imports from US or 280733.1

initial=2003 imports from US or 240356.3

so:

((280733.1-240356.3)/240356.3)*100=

+16.8% increase
