How calculate percentage?

How to figure percentage. If I hand you $300 dollars and say that I took 25% off the top how much was the total?How calculate percentage?
I. Common Sense says $ 400.

II. Procedure says: Let the Principal Amount is x.

Since 100%-25%=75%, and 75% = 75/100

Therefore 75/100 x = 300

Or x = 300 X 100/75 = 400

Hence the Answer is %400.How calculate percentage?
Multiply .25 to $300 and that equals $75. Then subtract $75 from $300 which equals $225, this is 75% of 300.

.25 is the decimal form of 25/100 (or 1/4). This is important because percentages are fractions with a denominator of 100. To find a percentage of something, you must multiply by the fraction you want. If you want to know what is 50% or 1/2 is of something, you multiply instead of divide.How calculate percentage?
This is a problem that people face every day. If you spent 10% of your money on food last year and 20% of your money on food this year, how much did your spending on food increase as a percentage of your money?

You solve this problem the same way you find any other change percentage: subtract the old value from the new value and divide that number by the old value. So, (20%-10%)/10% = 100%. The percentage of your money that you spend on food has increased 100% over last year.
First do:

.25 * 300 = 75

So 75 is 25% of 300 and if you wanted 25% off off $300 then:

300 - 75 =

$225 %26lt;===Answer
