Hello,
Can any one help me. How can I calculate mass% of Silica (SiO2 Silicon dioxide) in a sample of Iron Ore.I need a simple test method that can be easily performed.Help How to calculate mass percentage of Silica (SiO2) in Iron Ore?
This is simple.
Silicon Mass= 28
Oxygen Mass=16
The equation is SiO2 which means 1 Silicon molecules and 2 molecules of Oxygen so we have to do the following:
Silicon Mass= 28*1=28
Oxygen mass=16*2= 32
Then add, the sum is 60. To get the weight of Silica, divide the weight of silica to the total mass which is 28/60= .46 then multiply by 100. The result is 46%Help How to calculate mass percentage of Silica (SiO2) in Iron Ore?
You have to first find the total mass of the iron ore sample and the no of moles of SiO2.
To find mass of SiO2, take no of moles times molar mass of SiO2 which is 60.
Take mass of SiO2 divide by mass of iron ore times 100.
thats your percentage mass of SiO2 in iron ore! n_n
