How do I calculate my percentage of body fat?

NOTE: NOT Body Mass Index!!! I know how to get my BMI, that's not what I'm asking.

What I'm asking is how to get my body fat percentage. I know at the doctor's office, they use calipers, so I wanted to know exactly how they do it. Or if there is a way to do it without the calipers. Thanks! How do I calculate my percentage of body fat?

There are scales that will attempt to calculate it but they can be very inaccurate. They may be able to give you a general idea though. There are other methods but not ones that the average person could do in their home (dunk tanks, fancy equipment etc.) If you belong to a gym they may have equipment there to calculate it.

How do I calculate a percentage variance?

For example, last year's sales were $135,000. This year's sales are $75,000. How do I get the percentage variance. Thanks - need ASAP.How do I calculate a percentage variance?
Percent variance is (new-previous)/previous * 100

So:

(75,000-135,000)/135,000

-60,000/135,000 =- 0.444444

*100 = -44.4%

So the percent variance is -44.4%.

How would i calculate the percentage of oxygen gas in this mixture?

A gaseous mixture of oxygen gas and Kr has a density of 1.104 g/L at 435 torr and 27 degrees Celsius.

calculate the percentage of oxygen gas in this mixtureHow would i calculate the percentage of oxygen gas in this mixture?
    Step One

Find the volume of Gas at STP

    P = 1 atmosphere

    T = 273 oK

    V = ???

    P1 = 435 T * 1 atmosphere / 760 T = 0.5724 atmospheres

    T1 = 27 + 273 = 300 oK

    V = 1 L I've chosen 1 Liter because I know how much 1 liter's mass is (ie 1.104 grams).

    PV/T = P1 * V1 / T1

    1 * V / 273 = 0.5724 * 1 / 300

    V = 0.521 L

    Step Two

    =======

Find the number of moles of gas in the mixture.

1 mole of a gas at STP occupies 22.4 L

    x mole this gas occupies 0.521 L

    22.4 x = 0.521

    x = 0.0233 moles.

    Step Three

    ========

Find the number of moles of oxygen and Krypton in this mixture.

Let the number of moles of oxygen = x

Let the number of moles of Kr = y

    x + y = 0.0233

    32x + 84 y = 1.104

the moles add up to 0.0233 moles

The mass is the molar mass of oxygen (32) * moles + molar mass of Krypton (periodic table 83)

Solving for x and y we get

    x = 0.0164 moles oxygen

    y = 0.00689 moles Kr

    Step Four

    =======

Find the percent oxygen. I'm going to use moles as my base and not grams.

The total number of moles = 0.0233 moles.

    0.0164 / 0.0233 * 100 = 70.4 %

    Comment

    ========

The percentage by mass is quite different. That comes out to

    0.525 / 1.104 * 100 = 52.5 %

Where did I get 0.525 You might ask? The number of moles * molecular mass of oxygen =

    0.0164 * 32 = 0.5248 grams.

How do you calculate a percentage of a percentage?

How would you calculate 15% of 15.44%?How do you calculate a percentage of a percentage?
Try it out with something you already know ( of = multiply )

50% is half, and half of a half is a quarter (25%)

    so 50% of 50% = 50/100 x 50/100 = 2500/100 = 25%

then put in the numbers you have in your question. How do you calculate a percentage of a percentage?
    .15 x .1544 = Your Answer

If you want 15.44% of 15%

    [Exact same calculation]

You can simply multiply their decimal equivalent: 0.15*0.1544=0.02316, done.
Ok, so you divide 15.44 by 100 and multiply the answer by 15 - just as you find a percentage of anything!

Your answer is 2.316% by the way!

Is this how u calculate percentage change?

calculate the % change in net sales from 2006 to 2007

this is how i do it:

    Net sales in 2006 = $19,315

    Net sales in 2007 = $24,006

    Difference = $24,006 - $19,315 = $4,691

    Percentage change = $4,691/$19,315 = 24.3%

did i do it right? Is this how u calculate percentage change?
    Absolutely correct.

Be wary, there are two types of percentage change though. Couplets and cumulative.

Couplet, you merely look at growth on previous year (or term).

Cumulative, you compare each year to the base year (term) however many years back.

  • How do weather forecasters calculate the percentage risk of rain, snow, storms, flooding etc.?

    Hi,

What formulae are used for these calculations? How do you interpret what these percentage risks actually mean for your specific area on the actual day being forecast?

    Thanks,

Wayne. How do weather forecasters calculate the percentage risk of rain, snow, storms, flooding etc.?
Dart board. (Not really but my friends are all convinced this is true...)

This can really vary from forecaster to forecaster and there is really no set formula for calculating precip risk. It can almost be more of a gut instinct/shooting from the hip thing.

Some things that can effect the risk that the forecaster will assign can be:

--What type of weather is being forecast such as airmass thunderstorms vs cold/warm front moving through.

--What size of an area are you forecasting for. TV Weather-people and the National Weather Service will generally have a much larger area that they are responsible for as opposed to an airline forecaster that is forecasting for a single point on the map.

    How to calculate percentage?

ok so i need to no how to find the difference between numbers using percentage.

so for example 49,511 what is 1.95% of this.

What is it and how do i work it out with a basic calculator?.How to calculate percentage?
Type in your percentage (1.95 in this case) in the calculator.

    Result: 1.95

    Divide by 100.

    Result: .0195

Multiply by what you wanted to find the percentage of (in this case 49511)

    Result: 965.465
    .0195 X 49,511

percent= of a hundred so for other problems you divide the percentage given by one hundred and multiply it by the number given. How to calculate percentage?
What you do is divide the percent by 100.

For example, if you want 50% (one half) you multiply a number by 0.50 (one half)

So in this case, 1.95 divided by 100 is 0.0195.

Multiply 49511 times 0.0195, and there's your answer.
Percent is parts per hundred, so multiply by 0.0195 to get the answer. How to calculate percentage?
convert the % to a decimal and the multiply the two numbers=

    1.95%= 0.0195

    49,511 x .0195=965.4645

I think thats right, but always double check!
    divide 49,511 by 100 = 1%

    1% x 1.95 =

    965.4645 is 1.95% of 49511

How do I calculate the percentage difference between these 2 numbers?

In a lab, I determined the percent volume of alcohol in wine: 9.65% It's an average.

If I were to compare this to what it says on the label-9.5%- how would I calculate a percent difference? How do I calculate the percentage difference between these 2 numbers?
Differences in percentage can be a little tricky to talk about,

because often percentage is used for the difference,

and it sort of wraps back on itself.

There are two ways to do this:

    1) Simple subtraction

"The experiment suggests the alcohol is higher in volume by 0.15 percentage points."

It's a good idea to add the word "points" for clarity.

    because ...

    2) you can also do it as a ratio, just as with any quantity other than percentage (point)s.

To make it easier, let's change from percent alcohol to actual volume.

For convenience, let's say we have 1000 ml of wine.

Then the label indicates the volume of alcohol is 95 ml

    but you measured 96.5 ml

    96.5 / 95 = 1.015789

So there is 1.58 % more alcohol than is stated on the label.

In this case it might be even more confusing because

the two numbers start with the same digits (1 and 5) !

And both are correct in their own way.

But one is ten times the magnitude of the other.

Let's use a different example with more widely differing numbers.

Let's say in some year 25% of the households in some city had computers in the house,

and the next year it jumped to 45%.

Then you could say the increase was 20 percent or, more clearly, 20 percentage points.

But what about the ratio ?

45/25 = 1.8 ... so another way to state it is

"the number of households with computers increased by 80%".

The increase was 20 percentage points OR 80 percent (since 20 = 80% of 25).

Both are correct, but you have to make sure it is clear which you mean.

"PARTNERSHIPS" are the most common cause of problems in business. They cause MOST lawsuits %26amp; business failures.

Hopefully you have not SIGNED any sort of partnership agreement yet.

Whether you like it or your not, your entire future %26amp; that of your "PARTNER" depends upon whether the Partnership is formulated correctly.

BITE THE BULLET! YOU BOTH MUST HAVE A LAWYER WHO WILL ADVISE YOU OF THE VARIOUS WAYS OF SAFELY PROTECTING EACH OTHERS INTERESTS %26amp; EVALUATING EACH OTHERS ACTUAL FINANCIAL VALUE OF EACH OTHERS CONTRIBUTION. THEN YOU CAN MEDIATE DIFFERENCES OF OPINION WITHOUT TOO MUCH FRICTION.

EXAMPLE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER FORMULATION.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE A "TRUE PARTNERSHIP", you MUST make this a "LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP"

WHY? Suppose that you %26amp; your partner get along fine, there are no problems, and you are successful.

Without some form of "LIMITED LIABILITY" formation, if later your partner dies, his heirs can demand their share of the value of the partnership in cash, forcing you to sell. Worse still, either partners airs can demand their share of the profits on a regular basis without ever participating in the business, or if you have no buy sell arrangement with a 50/50 format, either partners heirs can control the business whether you like it or not. They can even place a nephew or relative with no business experience to replace your partner. This may even be a person who has failed at everything they have ever done %26amp; they just don't know what to do with him. THAT WOULD BE YOUR NEW PARTNER.

Without a limited liability formation of some form, (there are more ways to form this business arrangement than a simple partnership agreement), if one of your employees or either of the partners family were to say have a car wreck that injured someone else, lawyers would go after the assets of the business AND your personal assets. (AND THEY WILL GET THEM).

****THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU MUST DO IS:****

HAVE A FULLY FUNDED BUY SELL AGREEMENT (usually term insurance that can be updated as the value of the business grows)

THIS ASSURES THAT A VALUE IS ESTABLISHED FOR THE BUYOUT OF THE OTHER PARTNERS INTEREST, AVOIDING THE ABOVE PROBLEMS.

AGAIN BOTH OF YOUR FUTURES DEPEND ON IT.

BITE THE BULLET! EACH OF YOU NEED LAWYERS!

YOU WILL QUICKLY FIND OUT DURING THIS FORMATION PROCESS WHETHER YOU ARE COMPATABLE AS PARTNERS.How can i calculate my percentage of sharing a shop with a partner?
if you did not think about this and reduce it to writing before you became partners, the law assumes that you will be paid for your cost of the goods and then you and your partner will split the gross profits 50/50.

at least, the English common law does. your locality may have a law that says otherwise, but you didn't tell us where this is, so we can't advise you.

oh :-(How can i calculate my percentage of sharing a shop with a partner?
50% each , no matter what the contributions , as 50% will probably be the legal settlement if things turn pear shaped , you shouldnt operate a business with family or relationships , as they usually turn pear shaped for this very reason. be careful , and good luck with it , if you have a cheaquebook or trust account , it will pay for you to have duel signatures on outgoing funds , this will save a few headaches , and cover you for if things turn not as expected .. did I say be careful.. yes I did . good luck with it
I think you have got problems already so early in your partnership as the most important thing you should have done, which is get it all down in writing first, you haven't done. All the money areas of the partnership should have been sorted out first, and then the different jobs you will each be required to do. If you want a 50/50 partnership, then you should have paid 50% of the keymoney and 50% of the stock, and your partner should have paid the other 50%. As it is you have paid 50% for the keymoney and 100% of the stock. Not much of a partnership already is it? You need to get all this sorted out before you go much further. Partnerships can be a tricky business all round.

How do you calculate the percentage of sulfate content by volumetric analysis?

I've done the tests and all no worries, but im struggling to find the right procedure to calculate the amount of sulfate present in epsom salt. I added 15 g to 150 ml .1 mol HCL then titrated with a .1 mol BaCL soloution. I found the end point to be 22.6 ml. Any help would be awsome :)How do you calculate the percentage of sulfate content by volumetric analysis?
    Break it down a bit

    Epsom salt is MgSO4

    So we are looking at

    MgSO4 + HCl ==BaCl==%26gt; ?

So break the compounds down a bit

    Mg^2+ + SO4^2- + H^1+ + Cl^1-

    Flip them and you get

    MgCl2 + H2SO4

So, now we know what you got at the end of the mixing the MgSO4 and HCl, both of which is soluble and aqueous.

    The balanced equation is

    MgSO4 + HCl ==BaCl==%26gt; MgCl2 + H2SO4

So now we need to figure out the theoretical yield of this for H2SO4

We have the weight in grams of MgSO4, we need the weight in grams of the .1 mol HCl

To find the weight of HCl in .1 molar HCl we can use the following

density(g/mL) multiplied by volume(ml) = the value for 100% HCl, multiply by .1 = weight of HCl in 1. mol HCl

    So

    (1.18 g/ml)(150 ml)(.1 mol) = 17.7 grams of HCl in 150mL of 0.1 molar solution.

Now, we've got our masses of each of our reactants, now we can find the limiting reagent.

    15g MgSO4 (1 mol MgSO4/120.37g MgSO4) (1 mol H2SO4 / 1 mol MgSO4) (98.08g H2SO4 / 1 mol H2SO4) = 12.22 g H2SO4

    17.7g HCl (1 mol HCl/36.46g HCl) (1 mol HCl/1 mol H2SO4) (98.08g H2SO4 / 1 mol H2SO4) = 47.61 g H2SO4

So MgSO4 is your limiting reagent and your ideal yield would 12.22g of H2SO4. To check your numbers we can convert the 12.22g of H2SO4 into ml by multiplying it by it's density (which is 1.84 g/ml)

    So

    12.22g x 1.84 g/ml = 22.48 ml H2SO4

If you factor in human error, you probably over measured something, but you should be pretty well set.

How do I calculate what percentage this is?

I need to know what percentage of 2048.04 169.1 is.How do I calculate what percentage this is?
You do the percentage of the number you want to know divided by the total then multiply by 100.

    169.1/2048.04 x 100 = 8.256675How do I calculate what percentage this is?
when you are asked a question like this, always remember which one you are calculating the percentage of.

i.e. in the question it says 'what percentage of '2048.04' is 169.1... telling you that you need to find how many times 169.1 can go into 2048.04

    therefore;

    169.1 / 2048.04 = 0.08256

percent means per cent (its french for, for every hundred)

so take your answer, and multiply it by 100

    0.08256 x 100 = 8.256 = 8.26%

HOpe this helps..How do I calculate what percentage this is?
    0.1211141336487......

To find this answer you must do 2048.04 divided by (169 multipied by 100)
    169.1/2048.04=8.25%

How do you calculate the percentage yeild when you are given the sample of hydrocarbon and grams of water?

And you have to figure out the percentage of hydrogen? How do you calculate the percentage yeild when you are given the sample of hydrocarbon and grams of water?
Percentage Yield = (Actual Yield / Theoretical Maximum Yield) * 100

Use this equation to work it out.How do you calculate the percentage yeild when you are given the sample of hydrocarbon and grams of water?
All the Hydrogen in the water will have come from the hydrocarbon. The percentage of Hydrogen in water is determined by the atomic weights of the atoms. The atomic weight of Hydrogen is 1 and Oxygen is 16. % H in H2O = 2*1 / (2*1 + 16) = 2/18 = 1/9 = 11.11%.Multiply the percentage times the weight of water. This will give the total mass of the Hydrogen in the hydrocarbon. Then divide the weight of hydrogen by the weight of the hydrocarbon sample. This gives the percentage of Hydrogen in the hydrocarbon sample. Any percentage yield is impossible to calculate unless the actual identity of the hydrocarbon is known. Then a balanced chemical equation can be formulated and the amounts of reactants and products calculated.

How do I calculate the percentage of Li2CO3 in the sample?

A sample of mixed carbonates, SrCO3 (147.63g/mol) and Li2CO3 (73.89 g/mol), weighed 0.5310 grams. If this sample is titrated with acid, it is found that 26.11ml of 0.3346 M HCl are required to reach the endpoint. What is the percentage of Li2CO3 in the sample? SrCO3 and Li2CO3 are the only components in the sample and carbonate reacts as a diprotic acid? How do I calculate the percentage of Li2CO3 in the sample?
you must start this problem with the information from the titration:

    2H+ + (CO3)2- ----%26gt; H2CO3

therefore, the ratio of H+ to carbonate in the titration is 2:1. so the number of moles of carbonate in the sample = (0.3346moles/Liter *0.02611 Liters)/2 = 0.0.004568 moles Carbonate

now we have to find the amount of each component

    number of moles SrCO3 = x

Number of moles Li2CO3 (Because it is total moles minus moles of SrCO3) = 0.004568 - x

    147.63(x) + 73.89(0.004568- x) = 0.5310

The equation above is using the known mass of the total sample and the known total moles of carbonate to create an expression that will solve for the proportions of the two compounds that have different molar masses to get the total mass of the sample.

    x = 0.00262368 moles SrCO3

    Therefore

    0.004568 - 0.00262368 = 0.001944 moles Li2CO3

    Mass L2CO3 = (0.001944 moles * 73.89 g/mol) = 0.14367g

    percent Li2CO3 (mass/mass total)*100

    (0.14367g/0.5311g) *100 = 27.05% Li2CO3

I am 5'10 and about 96 pounds and am wondering how to calculate my current % of my ideal body weight. Does that make sense? like am I 65% of my ideal body weight? or am i 90%? etc..

also, how do you calculate what 85% of my ideal body weight would be?How do you calculate your percentage from an ideal body weight ?
    ok let's see

    http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obes鈥?/a>

    for 70 inches (5' 10") a bmi of 19 (healthy is 18.5-24.9) is 132 pounds.

so let's just use that as an ideal weight.

    so let's say

    (96/132) x 100 = 73% of your ideal weight.

    for 85% you just do

    (85/100) x 132 = 112 lbs

(i rounded off both the answers)

If i were you, I'd aim anywhere between 130-150 because even 112 is too underweight. How do you calculate your percentage from an ideal body weight ?
5'10" and 96 pounds is anorexic

How can I calculate the percentage difference between these numbers?

    9.99 and 9.81

    9.99 and 9.96

    10.70 and 10.93

    10.70 and 10.65

I have tried to calculate this so many times and it always comes up with strange numbers. I need to calculate these to 3 decimal places for Biology.

I appreciate the help. How can I calculate the percentage difference between these numbers?
You want "difference" and not "change", so you'll have to pick one of the two numbers for it to be different from. Usually you'd pick the smaller number.

    percentage difference = absolute of (value 1 - value 2) * 100 / (smaller value)

    % diff (9.99 %26amp; 9.81) = (9.99 - 9.81) * 100 / 9.81 = 0.18 * 100 / 9.81 = 1.83 (3sf)

    9.99 is 1.83% larger than 9.81

    % diff (9.99 %26amp; 9.96) = (9.99 - 9.96) * 100 / 9.96 = 0.301 (3sf)

    9.99 is 0.301% larger than 9.96

    % diff (10.7 %26amp; 10.93) = (10.93 - 10.7) * 100 / 10.7 = 2.15 (3sf)

    10.93 is 2.15% larger than 10.7

    % diff (10.7 %26amp; 10.65) = (10.7 - 10.65) * 100 / 10.65 = 0.469 (3sf)

    10.7 is 0.469% larger than 10.65

How can you calculate what percentage of your race is?

Im Korean, Ecuadorian, and also a bit Indian. My friend said she did the math and found out her percentage of her whole race is. And i think that's sorta weird and that she got it wrong because i doubt she can fin out her percentage of her race and be correct also. How can you calculate what percentage of your race is?
It is very confusing to try to calculate the percentage of each race you are. To get an exact number is completely IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible to get an exact number because you would have to know the race of EVERY ancestor you ever had, and that is just not possible. The easiest way to get a rough number is to go as far back as your grandparents. For example, if your grand parents on one side are both 100% Korean, and on the other side they are both 100% Ecuadorian, that would make you 50% Korean and 50% Ecuadorian. If One grandparent on one side is 100% Korean, the other is 100% Indian, and both the Grandparents on the other side are 100% Ecuadorian, that makes you 50% Ecuadorian, 25% Korean, and 25% Indian. It depends on what your grandparents are and what percentage of what they are, and you just calculate it. If one of your parents, say your Dad, his parents, one is 100% Ecuadorian, the other is 100% Korean, It makes your dad 50% of both. And your mom is 25% indian and 75% ecuadorian, it would make you 25% Korean, 12.5% Indian, and 62.5% Ecuadorian.

So basically you just calculate it depending on your known ancestors races. If you don't know your ancestors race percentages, you really can't completely find out your percentages of race.

Your friend can calculate what percentage of each race she is, but it is only going to be partially accurate. I know that i am 50% German and 50% Czech, but that is based on my grandparents and does not go any further back than that. I suggest you just start with your grandparents/parents and don't dig any deeper than that.

Good luck! How can you calculate what percentage of your race is?
There is a company called 23 and me that does dna testing. I know caluclating exact percentages is nearly impossible, but the company I speak of offers a map with migratory patterns of where (most of) your ancestors are from. And you can do a rought estimate from that. Plus they offer some other resources in the same package (its not free)How can you calculate what percentage of your race is?
I think it would be possible to calculate the percentage of your race. For example, if your mother's mother was Italian; your father's mother was Spanish; your mother's father was French; your father's father was Mexican, you would be 25% Spanish.
i am 100% of the human race.

Calculate the percentage composition (by mass) of the mixture?

A 1.500 g sample of a mixture containing only Cu2O and CuO was treated with hydrogen to produce 1.252g pure copper metal. Calculate the percentage composition (by mass) of the mixtureCalculate the percentage composition (by mass) of the mixture?
What's the matter, Jay. Does your teacher not like you any more. (Just kidding.) This was a slightly ugly problem. There are multiple steps, so stick with me. If there's something you don't follow, be sure to ask.

    Givens:

mass of Cu2O + mass of CuO = 1.500 grams

mass of copper metal formed = 1.252 grams Cu

moles of copper metal formed = 0.0197 moles Cu

    Define variables:

    x moles Cu2O produces 2x moles Cu

y moles CuO produces y moles Cu

    therefore 2x + y = 0.0197 mol Cu

    and y = 0.0197 - 2x

Masses of each compound in mixture:

    x moles Cu2O x 143.0g Cu2O / 1 mol Cu2O = 143x g Cu2O

    y moles CuO x 79.5g CuO / 1 mol CuO = 79.5y g CuO

    Total mass of mixture:

    143x + 79.5y = 1.50 grams of the mixture

    Substitute for y (recall y = 0.0197 - 2x):

    143x + 79.5(0.0197 - 2x) = 1.50 g

    Solve for moles:

    143x +1.566 - 159x = 1.50 g

    -16x = -0.066

    x = 0.004125 moles Cu2O

    y = 0.0197 - 2x = 0.01145 moles CuO

    Convert moles to grams:

    0.004125 mol Cu2O x 143.0 g Cu2O/1 mol Cu2O = 0.590 g Cu2O

    0.01145 mole CuO x 79.5 g CuO/1 mol CuO = 0.910 g CuO

    Now check the masses:

    0.590 g Cu2O + 0.910 g CuO = 1.500 g of mixture

    Compute percent composition:

    0.590 g Cu2O / 1.500 g x 100 = 39.3% Cu2O

    0.910 g CuO / 1.500 g x 100 = 60.7% CuO

Please help calculate the percentage error?

A surveyor estimates the area of a triangular plot of land using the formula

A =1/2 absinC where a and b are the length of two sides and C is the included

angle. If the sides are measured to an accuracy of 1% and the angle C,

measured as 45掳, is measured to within 2%, calculate the approximate

percentage error in A.Please help calculate the percentage error?
Ideally, the area is 1/2 ab sin45. However, a and b have errors of 1%. Error in sin 45 when C is measured within 2% is estimated as follows. 100*(Sin45-sin43)/sin45 = 3.55%. Thus area has error of 1% due to a plus 1% due to b plus 3.55% due to C. The total worst case error is 5.55%. However one generally calculates root sum squared error and that is sqrt(1^2+1^2+3.55^2) = 3.82%. The reason for doing this is that the probability of errors being the max error is relatively small.

    You may verify by taking a few values for a, b and C as a= 15, b= 10, C= 45 and compare with a= 15.15, b = 10.1 and C= 43.

Do another exercise, with C as 60 deg and another as C = 30 deg, for practice. Please help calculate the percentage error?

How do I calculate what percentage I would need to get on my final exam with these marks? Please Help?

So my calculus exam is worth 30%

I have a 87.8% in it right now, but that does not include the unit test I just took today which was worth 8%. Unfortunately I don't think I did too good on it, so consider that test around a 60%.

With those marks, what is the minimum percentage I need to get on the final exam to achieve an above 65% average in the end.How do I calculate what percentage I would need to get on my final exam with these marks? Please Help?
Ok, so since you have your exam and unit test worth a total of 38% so to find out what your currently at in the course you would multiply your mark (87.8) x the percent of how much is done in the course so (.62). This will give you what you would have if your to get zero on the test and exam 54.43, so now to get to 65 you need 10.57% more. This being said you should need to get 27.8% on both the test and exam to finish with a 65%. Since 10.57 is 27.8% of 38. And of course the better you did on the test the less you will need on the exam. How do I calculate what percentage I would need to get on my final exam with these marks? Please Help?

How do you calculate the percentage of the volume?

The question is this: Earth has a thin outer layer that averages 24km thick. Earth's diameter is about 12,270km. What is the percentage of the volume of Earth is the crust? How do you calculate the percentage of the volume?
The volume varies with the cube of the radius.

    Radius with crust is 6135.

    Crust is 24.

So the crust represents (24/6135)^3 of the whole.

    24/6135 = 0.00391

The cube of that is: 5.9867 e-8

    or 0.000000059867

A reasonable, but not exact, analogy would be wrapping

a sheet of paper around a basketball.

    That's how thin it is.

(You could use V = 4/3 pi r^3 to calculate volume

with and without the crust, but then the 4/3 pi

cancels from both, so I just skipped introducing them

    in the first place.)

How do you calculate energy percentage from foods?

For my nutrition class I had to keep a journal all day of the food I have eaten and total up all of the carbohydrates, proteins, calories and fats. Then I have to figure out the percentage of energy from each group. Is there a formula for doing this? How do you calculate energy percentage from foods?
If you know the amounts of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, then your total caloric intake should be 4(grams carb)+ 4(grams protein)+9(grams fat) %26lt;-- that many calories TOTAL. The percentage carb and protein is then their respective quantity in calories (ie, four times the amount of grams of each) divided by the total calories, and multiplied by one hundred. For fats, you use the quantity in calories, in this case 9 times the grams of fat, then again divide by the total calories consumed and multiply by one hundred.

Example: 5 grams fat, 4 grams carbs, 3 grams protein. Total calories= 4(4)+4(3)+9(5)=16+12+45= 73 Total Calories.

    Percent carb= 4 calories per gram(4 grams carbohydrate)/73 calories total *100=100(16/73)= 21.9

    Protein: 100(4(3)/73)=16.4

    Fat:100(9(5)/73)=61.6...

Double check by adding the percentages : 21.9+16.4+61.6=99.9... close enough to 100

How to calculate percentage of standard deviation between 2 values?

how to calculate percentage of standard deviation between 2 values for example, z=0 and z=1How to calculate percentage of standard deviation between 2 values?
Ah! I think what you are asking is how to calculate the probabilities under the normal curve between two z-scores.

Well, there are two fundamental ways:

    1) calculator

    2) table

I like the table approach myself.

    1) First, with a calculator, I've used TI calculators. They have a function that calculates this.

On my TI-83, just to the left of the [Clear] button, there is the [Vars] button, and above that in yellow is DISTR

Type [2nd] -%26gt; [Vars] (which accesses DISTR), select normalcdf(

Then use the command with the following format:

    normalcdf(z1, z2), where z1 is the smaller z-value.

    For example:

    normalcdf(0,1)

    Or, normalcdf(-2.11,2.04)

    etc.

    2) Using a table.

There are commonly two types of z tables:

    i) CUMULATIVE z tables

ii) z tables showing probability from the center (z = 0)

    i) To use a cumulative z-table, look up the probability of the right-most z-value, and subtract the probability of the left-most z-value.

    So for, P(0 %26lt; z %26lt; 1), look up 1 and 0.

    P(z %26lt; 1) = .8413

    P(z %26lt; 0) = .5000

    Subtract to get .3413.

ii) To use a standard z table, to find the probability between two z-values, if the first one is 0, then simply look up the other value in the table.

    P(0 %26lt; z %26lt; 1) = .3413

    Suppose you wanted P(-1.96 %26lt; z %26lt; 1)

You would look up the probabilities from both numbers and ADD.

For both numbers being positive, P(.55 %26lt; z %26lt; 1.22), look up both numbers and subtract the smaller probability from the larger one.

If both numbers are positive, this is analogous to the previous situation.

    For a one-tailed lookup, e.g. P(z %26lt; -2)

look up the probability and subtract it from .5.

A more targeted and complete answer would have been possible if you told me what tools you had at your disposal.

    How do you calculate percentage?

For example, like the show DEAL or no DEAL. Like he'll say , there's a 66% chance of you winning the money, or, in a survey of a hundred people, 12% said they do not like pies. Please help? How do you calculate percentage?
Ok these people are telling you how to do it the long way. If you made a poll out of 457 people and 345 people said yes to whatever the poll was (345) divided by the total (457) equals .7549 you move the decimal to the right 2 places (thats the same as multiplying it by 100) and you get 75.4 so you round it to 75% :)
    Division

Let's say in Deal or No Deal there are 6 cases left:

    $1

    $100

    $750

    $25 000

    $200 000

    $1 000 000

Let's say you wanted to figure out the chance of winning over $100000. Well, since there are 2 cases over $100 000, and there are 6 cases, there is a 2 in 6 chance, or 2/6, of winning over $100 000,

Now, you divide. 2 divided by 6 is 0.3333333333...

Now, you must multiply by 100. 0.3333333... times 100 is 33.33

Therefore, there is a 33.33% chance of winning over $100 000!!How do you calculate percentage?
It's all a matter of division. Lets use deal or no deal for example. If there are 26 cases, and one of them have 1,000,000 in it, then you have a 1 in 26 chance of picking it.

    1/26 = 0.038

You then multiply your answer by 100

    0.038 X 100 = 3.8

So you have a 3.8% change of picking the 1,000,000 case.

    If it's a hundred, it's easy.

Let's pretend 53% of people like cars

    53%=0.53 or 53/100

53 people like cars out of 100 people

    If it's not a hundred (or 10 or 1000)

you multiply or divide so the number is 100 (or 10 or 1000)

Let's say out of 2 hundred people

Pretend 82% of people hates frogs

    82%=0.41 or 82/200 or 41/100 (divide by 2)

you divide 200 to 100, so is the 82%

so out of 100 people, 41% of people hate frogsHow do you calculate percentage?
12% of 100 is 12 ... Why? because you move the decimal over to the left twice and multiply, in this case

    100 times 0.12 = 12

    EDIT: more info

lets say there is a band, 264 people and 132 want to quit. What percent want to quit? 264, move the decimal 2 to the left, so its 2.64 and divide 132 by 2.64 which is 50 or 50%
say there was a survey where they asked 20 people if they like pies. 4 said yes. 16 said no. to get the percentage you would do 4/20= .2, multiply your answer by 100 and you get 20 so 20% of people said they liked pies.
    percentage is a fraction.

for example 12% is 12 divided by 100.

    12/100 = .12 to get the % you multiply by 100
well, if there are 10 suitcases in DEAL OR NO DEAL and only 5 SUITCASES are winners, you do:

    5 divided by 10

    5/10

  • How do you calculate what percentage of 100 and what percentage of 200 equals the value of 111?

With regards to hazard consequence modeling, you can use pseudo components to equal mixtures of known molecular weights. For a mixture with a MW of 111, there is a certain percentage of 100 and 200 MW pseudo components that equals 111.How do you calculate what percentage of 100 and what percentage of 200 equals the value of 111?
both the previous answers seem to have misinterpreted the question

i take it that the percentages of 100MW %26amp; 200 MW must add up to 100

and the resultant mixture must have a MW of 111

which is a typical mixture problem

let x% of 200MW be used, then (100-x)% of 100MW is used,

to give 100% of a 111MW mixture, so

    200x + 100(100-x) = 100*111

    2x + 100 - x = 111

    x = 11%

    ans: 11% of 200MW %26amp; 89% of 100MW

-----How do you calculate what percentage of 100 and what percentage of 200 equals the value of 111?
I believe you are talking about a mixture of the 100 %26amp; 200 that equals 111, if not then ignore this answer.

Are you missing something from this information? You have one equation %26amp; two unknowns.

    Let's call % of 100 P1 %26amp; % of 200 P2. So 100*P1 + 200*P2 = 111.

This has infinite solutions. P1=0 %26amp; P2 =55.5% or P1=111% %26amp; P2 = 0 or infinite solutions between these two. The only other thing I think you may mean is that the % of each are equal, so P1 = P2, so we will call it P.

    100*P + 200*P = 111 so 300*P = 111 so P = 111/300 so P = 37%How do you calculate what percentage of 100 and what percentage of 200 equals the value of 111?

How should I calculate the percentage of expenses used for business?

What percentage of my home phone, internet, heating, electric, etc bills is eligible for a tax deduction? We use our home in order to conduct the business of renting out a few apartments. How do I figure the correct percentage? The time and space used for conducting the "business" varies soooo much throughout the year. any advice? How should I calculate the percentage of expenses used for business?
Use the square footage of the room you use for business and divide that by the sq ft of the entire house. Take that % times utilities and other household bills, except food. How should I calculate the percentage of expenses used for business?
    You won't be deducting anything.

Renting a few apartments out isn't going to require a dedicated office so you will flunk the exclusively and regularly tests.

If you had long distance calls, add those to the schedule E.How should I calculate the percentage of expenses used for business?
You can only deduct the % of the total that is the space you use regularly and exclusively for business. From your description, it's very doubtful if you qualify to deduct home office expenses at all.
If your office is the dining room table, multiply your expenses by zero. If you have one room devoted solely to business, you can prorate expenses by square footage.

out of this 78 or 85% of 78 are using cellphone. ,that is 78*85/100=66.3%of the total surveyed people

so 66.3% of the surveyed people have both phone and internet

    How do you calculate percentage?

say we have 374$ and 7% of this amount will make 26.18. so when we add 374 and 26.18 we come up with 400.18.

now somebody says to you 400.18$ includes 7%. how do you calculate original 374$ knowing only 400.18% and 7%??How do you calculate percentage?
You know that $400.18 is the cost of Item X including a 7% (lets say tax).

Putting this into an equation you get:

    400.18 = 1.07X

    Therefore X =

    400.18/1.07 = 374

Calculate percentage increase of a stock value?

If I buy a stock for $100.00 and it appreciates to $200.00, what is the best formula to calculate the % increase?

    (200-100)/100

    or

(200-100)/((200-100)/2)Calculate percentage increase of a stock value?
The first one is the correct one:

    (200-100)/100 = 100/100 = 1

In order to convert that to a percentage (which means per hundred), you then need to continue:

    1 = 100/100 = 100 per cent

It is a coincidence that in this case you go from

    100/100 = 1 = 100/100.

To illustrate, if a stock had started from some number other than 100, say, from 25 to 32, the solution would have been:

    (32-25)/25 = 7/25 = .28 = 28/100 = 28 per cent,

    So, the full solution is:

    (200-100)/100 = 100/100 = 1 = 100/100 = 100 per cent

    Hello Carlybow

The simple spolution is to divide the new tax bill by the old one, and the answer you get is 3.586.

With this in mind th your taxes went by 359 %.

I would highly recommend talking to your tax acessor, as I think this a bit excessive.

I could be wrong , but I don't think so.....

    I hope this helps!

    Best of day's!

    Robert
You should ask the tax assr. how come the local "bars" tax's are aways lower. did he or she or "it" drop the computer? I have a drive way. it was$128.00 now $445.00? Thats Kenosha,Wi. that is.
    Divide 9203 into 33006 - answer is 358.64%

to check your answer, multiply the old amount 9203 by the percentage of increase 358.64 and you should be very close to the new tax bill of 33006.
Your getting screwed. I would walk in to the meeting with a shotgun and start picking people off until they changed it to something reasonable. You must ave a nice home though.

  • Calculate the percentage of NaHCO3 in this unknown mixture.?

Thermal decomposition of 2.968g of a mixture containing NaHCO3 lost 0.453g. Calculate the percentage of NaHCO3 in this unknown mixture.Calculate the percentage of NaHCO3 in this unknown mixture.?
thermal decomp of NaHCO3 occurs as follows

    2NaHCO3 --------%26gt;Na2CO2(s) + H2O(g) + CO2(g)

CO2 and H2O are evolved as gases, so the mass lost is the mass of CO2 and H2O produced.

The balanced equation shows that H2O and CO2 are produced in a 1:1 ratio. So the 0.453 g lost represents equal moles of H2O and CO2

    Thus let n = moles

    n x molar mass H2O + n x molar mass CO2 = 0.453

    18.016n + 44.01n = 0.453

    62.026 n = 0.453

    n = 0.453 / 62.026

    = 0.007303 moles of H2O and CO2 are formed

2 moles NaHCO3 decomposes to form 1 mole of H2O

    Therefore moles NaHCO3 = 2 x moles H2O

    = 0.014607 mol NaHCO3

    mass NaHCO3 = molar mass x moles

    = 84.008 g/mol x 0.014607 mol

    = 1.227 g

    % mass = actual mass / total mass x 100/1

    = 1.227 g / 2.968 g x 100/1

    = 41.34 %

    = 41.3 % (3 sig figs)

Why does ebay feedback rating only calculate percentage based on the past 12 months?

It makes a lot more sense to have a rolling feedback percentage. If you are a seller

and someone leaves negative feedback that simply is unjustified it allows the sellers feedback

to return to 100% over a period of time.

This was much better than the old system where if some idiot left negative feedback

Can someone show me the step by step as to how to solve this? Thank youHow do you calculate percentage off?
There could be 2 possibilities for this answer.

could be done the way it is listed above or it

can be done this way if the discounts are not

allowed to be combined. the above way works well

for the consumer and the below way works best for

    the the corporation.

in conclusion you convert the percentile into a

decimal and multiply by the actual cost to get the

    discount.

    $450 - 15%($450 x .15= $67.50) = $382.50

    $382.50 - 20%(382.50 x .20= $76.50) = $306

That would be $144 off the original price. How do you calculate percentage off?
If the employee gets the discount AFTER the lowest price, then you would want to calculate the 15% off first.

    Percentage is calculated as such:

15% is just a number like this: 15.00

Move the decimal point two spaces to the left so that you get .15, then multiply 450 by .15.

The number you get (I'm not telling you the answer, lol) is the amount you should subtract from $450 (that is, $450 - answer = new amount).

You should then use the same process with the 20%, only taking it off the new amount you got after determining 15% off (that is, new amount X .20 = percentage off).

Finally, subtract the percentage off from the second amount and you'll have your answer.

Another way to look at it:

    $450 x .15 = b

    $450 - b = c

    c x .20 = d

    c - d = e

e is final answerHow do you calculate percentage off?

How do you calculate percent error and the Theoretical Percentage of something?

Need more than just a formula...I need an explanation too. In detail...we have to calculate the theoretical percentage of water in BaCl2 x 2H20...and then compare the percent error to our other calculations. How do you calculate percent error and the Theoretical Percentage of something?
    BaCl2.2H2O molar mass =

    (137.33 + 2 x 35.453) + 2 x (2 x 1.0079 + 15.9994) = 208.236 + 36.030 = 244.266

    244.266 grams (1 mole) of BaCl2.2H2O contains 36.030 g H2O (2 moles of H2O).

    36.030 / 244.266 = 0.1475 (14.75%)

    Assume you found 15.21% H2O; your percent error is (15.21 - 14.75)/14.75 = 0.031 (3.1%)

yes, you divide and then multiply by 100 to express as a percent

for instance you probably realize that 10 is 50% of 20 (50% is half because 50 is half of 100)

so, to calculate: 10 is what percent of 20

    10/20=.5

    100*.5=50

    50%

    another one

25 is what percent of 100

    25/100=.25

    .25*100=25

    25%

How can I calculate an accurate Annual Percentage Rate with multiple deposits?

For example: On January 1, an investor deposits $100,000 to an account. Two months later on March 1, the same investor deposits an additional $30,000. On April 30 of the same year, the investor is given a check for $150,000 that repays his total investment (and includes $20,000 profit). Can anyone show me how I would calculate an Annual Percentage Rate? THANKS!!!!How can I calculate an accurate Annual Percentage Rate with multiple deposits?
It is a fairly simple calculation.

    $100,000 x 4 months = $400,000 dollar months

    $30,000 x 2 months = $60,000 dollar months

    Total = $460,000 dollar months

divide by 4 months and you get the average amount in the account was $115,000

    The interest rate for four months months = ($20,000 x 100) / $115,000 = 17.39%

To calculate the annual percentage rate you have to decide if you want to compound or not.

    Without compounding the annual rate = 17.39% x (12/4) = 52.17%

    With compounding the annual rate = (((1 + (17.39 / 100)) ^ (12/4) - 1) x 100 = 61.77%

How do you calculate percentage and percent recovery for this?

thank you!How do you calculate percentage and percent recovery for this?
Need more information! How do you calculate percentage and percent recovery for this?
the 0.596g cellulose is your actual yield

i don't know the reaction since you lack any information in your question

anyway: determine the theoretical yield of cellulose from the mass and/or moles of reactants you have.

    X + 2Y --%26gt; 3Z

    1 mole of X will yield 3moles of Z

2 moles of Y will yield 3 moles of Z

if you do the stoichimetrical calculations, you will determine what you are supposed to get fromt he reaction.

    % recovery or % yield = actual yield / theoretical yield x 100%

    % error = theoretical - actual / theoretical x 100% can't have a -% so just take the absolute value

How would you calculate annualised percentage increase?

if you already knew a company's revenues for a 5 year period how would calculate the annualised percentage increase throughout that period?

Say the revenues were: Yr 1-拢10m Yr 2-拢11.3m Yr 3-拢13.5m Yr 4-拢15m Yr 5-拢15.5mHow would you calculate annualised percentage increase?
You can calculate the increase by dividing the year value by the preceeding year. So to calculate the increase from year 1 to 2 you would do

    Year 2/ Year 1 = 11.3 / 10 = 1.13 = 13%. The value after the decimal point is the % increase.You could get to this by subtracting 1 and multiplying by 100 so

    1.13 - 1 = 0.13

    0.13 * 100 = 13

Over the 5 year period you have an increase of 55%How would you calculate annualised percentage increase?
If the revenue really grew at a (constant) annual rate r, then the fifth year revenue would be:

    (Yr 5) = (Yr 1) * (1 + r)^4

    Solve for r:

    (1 + r)^4 = (Yr 5)/(Yr 1) = 15.5/10 = 1.55

    1 + r = 1.55 ^ (1/4) ~~ 1.1158

    r ~~ 0.1158 or about 11.58%.

Note that only the starting and ending revenues are used, along with the number of years between. Also note that this is not a good fit to the data, since the growth from year 4 to year 5 was only about 3.33%.

Calculate percentage of unknown in a mixture?
    1. calculate the number of moles of KOH used to reach the end poing: mol(KOH) = 0.2*(36.0/1000) = 0.0072mols

    2. KOH will react with oxalic acid in a 2:1 ratio. Therefore you know that the number of moles of oxalic acid present in the sample is: mols(oxalic acid) = 1/2 * 0.0072 = 0.0036mols. This will be the number of moles present in a 25ml aliquote. 3. Transform the numbr of moles of the acid in grams: mass(oxalic acid) = mol weight * mols = 90*0.0036 = 0.324g.

    4. You can use ratios to calculate how many grams of oxalic acid where in 250ml of solution: g(in 25) / 25 = g(in 250)/250

    hence g(in 250) = g(in 25) * 250 / 25 = 3.24 g.

    5. Calculate the percentage by dividing the mass of oxalic acid in the mixture by the total mass of the mixture:

    %(oxalic acid) = (g(oxalic acid)/mass tot) *100 =5 (3.24/8)*100 = 40.5%

How do I calculate percentage on a calculater?

I know dumb question but I forgot. For example, 80 % of 30,000 dollars is _____. How would I type it on calculator thanksHow do I calculate percentage on a calculater?
Easy conversion that is VERY good to try to remember. When you have a percentage, slide the decimal point two digits to the left to turn it into an equal decimal.

In this case, since there's no decimal point in 80, you have to imagine one right after the 0 鈥?think of it as 80. or 80.0

Slide that decimal two to the left, and you've got .80, or .800, or 0.8 鈥?all equal decimals.

Hopefully that seems as easy to you as it does to me. If not, it also helps to remember that "percent" means, literally, "out of 100". So, 80% = 80 / 100.

I would assume you can figure out how to do either of these two calculations on a calculator, but do yourself a favor and figure this and similar problems in your head (writing down numbers as you get them if needed).

Sometimes the calculator will save you TONS of time and energy. But sometimes it is just a crutch, and may even convince you of a wrong answer if you make a mistake with it... real easy to do with tiny decimal points.

For example, in this problem, almost all of your digits are zeroes! Aside from the percentage conversion, this is all you need to know to do the problem:

    - 3 * 8 = 24

    - Multiplying a whole number by ten adds a zero (i.e. 30 * 10 = 300)

    - Dividing a whole number by ten removes one (i.e. 300 / 10 = 30)

It only took me a brief moment after reading this problem to realize that 80% of $30,000 is $24,000. And I have no doubt you are at LEAST as smart as I am.

Sorry to have such a long answer to a short question, but I can say with some experience 鈥?a couple extra seconds spent now practicing and remembering these basic math facts without a calculator will end up being time saved on every calculation you have to do for the rest of your life!!How do I calculate percentage on a calculater?

    How to calculate test percentage?

If a test is out of 120 points how do I calculate the percentage if the same test is 15% of the final score. example 108 out of 120, whats that if 120 = 15%.

How do I calculate it?How to calculate test percentage?
If the test was ot of 120, and you scored 108, then to get the percetage you divide the amount you scored by the amount the test is out of then multiply that by a hundred.. So, in this case, 108/120=0.9

    0.9*100=90%

    You scored 90%

Multiply that by 15, which gives you 1350. Divide that by a hundred and you get 13.5%
First find the percent correct on the test:

    108/120=x/100

How can i calculate the percentage weight change? (NOT HARD) SO SIMPLE?

weight before is 1,76 grams and weight after is 2.01 grams. I need to calculate the percentage of mass change. for example, the original mass increased by 5 percent. Something like that. ThanksHow can i calculate the percentage weight change? (NOT HARD) SO SIMPLE?
    Well, 2.01 * 100% = 201

    201 / 1.76 = 114.20

    114.20% - 100% = 14.2%

    So, mass increased by 14%
    ( 2.01 - 1.76 ) / 1.76 = fraction of change

fraction of change * 100% = percent changeHow can i calculate the percentage weight change? (NOT HARD) SO SIMPLE?
2.01/1.76 * 100 gives percentage relative to the start, eg 150% of starting value; if you want percentage increase then subtract 100
    change = (2.01 - 1.76)/1.76 = 0.142

% change divide the above result by 100. = 14.2%How can i calculate the percentage weight change? (NOT HARD) SO SIMPLE?
Percent of change is equal to new over old. That's a good thing to get in your head, you will understand it after memorizing it. It's one of the few things that worked that way for me. If you can't remember it, just try to see whether the item gained or lost whatever we're talking about (in this case, weight) and put the appropriate one over the other

    2.01/1.76=114.2%
